Hi all,
I recently just sent in my application yesterday (August11,2017) and i'm hoping to take the oath around february 2019 or march 2019 since i plan on going on a trip to europe in April 2019.
I am applying with my family (mom, dad, sister and i). Do you think i will become a canadian citizen by that time or do you think i will fall short and just have to apply for a europe visa?

You are more likely that you will get your citizenship by then. Not 100% but definitely in your favour. I say not 100% because once 3/5 rule kick in, your application processing time will likely slow down due to influx of applicants. CIC will need to redirect some staff to handle the flood.

The official processing time is 12 months. So I wouldn't bank on it being completed any time sooner.

I applied early February. Sat my test in July. Have been DM ever since and am waiting for an Oath invite. So going on 6 months.... ie: I will not have Citizenship in the timeline you are hoping.

Many applicants have much faster timelines. And many have much longer ones.

If you need a Visa for travel I would say that you should assume, until otherwise notified by CIC that you have an oath ceremony scheduled, that you will still need one. Better safe than sorry.

The OP applied in August 2017 and is hoping to be done by March of 2019. That's 19 months. layla_, you don't think you will have citizenship in 19 months?

i think he means 2018, he should get by May 2018 if everything goes smoothly assuming they dont require stuff like backround check by february 2018, if he has criminal record in canada it could take upto 2020.
