Thanks IV. Was thinking we could just start with the simple verbs action words. Come, go, sit, stand etc what say you? I know the alphabets would be the best place to start but I reckon any serious minded person would have downloaded an app to help with that.

I've been studying for a couple of months and I've been improving a lot. Still a long way to go until I feel confortable enough with the language thought, specially because I started from absolut zero.

My basic routine is like this:

- Study a lesson from an app ( I use Rocket French).
- Listen to a radio station from Montreal ( FM 91.9) for about 20 minutes.
- Listen to french songs ( I love Zaz and Coeur de Pirate).
- Try to tell my plans for the day in french.

It's really hard in the beginning but little by little I'm getting more confident.

I don't plan to take TEF, just want to arrive in Canada with enough french to communicate better.

Habla usted español? Tengo que practicar ambos español y francés. Español está más fácil para mi porque empecé a estudiar español hace tres años. Muchas personas aquí en New York hablan español. Yo tengo inquilinos que son inmigrantes que sólo hablan español, así que tengo que hablar español frecuentemente. Cuando aprendiendo francés, es útil saber español porque unas palabras son similares en ambas idiomas.

Nunca hablo español. Recuerdo bastante para leer las palabras que tu escribes. Pero no sé las palabras para las cosas que pienso. Tengo miedo de hablando.

The grammatical similarities help me with french, though. For both languages, I need to just say whatever I can rather than worry about being right.
