Can someone tell me how to call CIC outside of Canada and get through a real person? I'm constantly getting "we are experiencing a high number of calls and are unable to connect you" after 10 minutes of pressing numbers on a keypad to finally reach the option of speaking to an agent.

I'm really sorry and I know it's very frustrating. I would advise you to keep trying until you succeed. Best of luck!

Gud morning all!
I'm getting little stressed out here. Applicants from March n April getting DM and PPr now. And I'm April 18 applicant (AOR2 June 19), background check haven't even started. BGC still saying 'not applicable'

Good morning, try not to stress yourself out. We can take it as a good sign that March/April applicants are receiving those now which could mean that ours should be right around the corner. My application was on April 4th and there has not been any medical request yet nor has the background check started. Stay strong!

Don't stress too much! I'm also April 19th applicant and bgc still says "not applicable" for me too so you're not alone.

Phyline, I know it can be frustrating. I am sorry you can't reach someone.

a. If you need general clarifications about your application, please drop your questions here. We will try to help you with your queries.

b. If you need an update on your application, there is another way to get updates on your application. Please feel free order your GCMS notes. The notes will show the last update on your application.

Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

In case, you do not know what GCMS notes are. These are the notes prepared by the immigration officers on your application that will show the progress made so far. Another link to understand what GCMS notes are: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-im...-explained-has-never-before-until-now.390292/

I hope this is helpful!

I'm a April 7th Applicant, AOR2 June 19 NDVO as well. After July 31, 2017 no one has gotten BGC from NDVO I think they do it in batches every 2 weeks so hopefully next week Monday we are in that batch! Applicants with AOR2 June 9 have gotten DM and PPR so we shouldn't be too far away from DM.

Have you called the call centre and listened to the automatic application status?

keep in mind CIC's goal is still to complete 80% of applications in 12 months. As it has only been 5 months or so there's really nothing to stress about as we are all still within the 12 month estimate.

best thing you can do now is to just simply put the application to the back of your mind and just let CIC do its thing. stop trying mico-manage every step of the process. the updates and notifications will sort themselves out

Don't worry, Sandhukang. I am April 18 applicant (AOR2 June 13), BGC is saying 'not applicable'. We will get through fine. Take care!

Telephone: 1-888-242-2100 (in Canada only)
  • Automated telephone service (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
If you have a touch-tone telephone, you can listen to pre-recorded information about our programs, and check the status of your application.
You can only call if your in Canada, some people had success with those internet based phones. I wonder what "Not Applicable" means; looks like 4-5 Applicants have that status in BGC, I have a lawyer and can't access my GCKEY so, I'm relying on updates from Applicants with similar AOR2 dates as me lol.

This is interesting. Does my sponsor need to submit the request? It says "only Canadian citizens, PRs, and persons present in Canada." Does he then submit on his behalf or information about my case file?
How do I know my "File number"?

I'm just trying to chat with an agent and confirm that so far our application is in order (like many in this thread seem to have successfully done and been reassured), but don't know how to reach a real person.

Have yet to receive request for medical, and no information about visa office or BGC or anything.

Hi, dial the toll free number and then you need to listen to the options and press 2-1-1 and then 0.
