Hello,

My husband is on student visa and I have open work permit.
My son 2years old has TRV multiple entry visa valid till 2021.
My name was added into my husband existing medical account however for my son to be added they are requesting for additional documents.
Do we have to apply visitor permit for my son to stay for longer than 6 months in Canada?
Only after getting visitor permit will his name be included in insurance? how long does this take?
If yes, please help me with the procedure.

Thanks

You will have to contact UHIP directly to see what extra requirements are needed.

Hi

The validity of your son's TRV has nothing to do with his status in Canada. What does his entry stamp say? Was he given a Visitor Record when you guys entered Canada?

No, he was not given any visitor record. When we called the insurance customer support they asked for entry stamp, however when we checked his passport there is no stamp at all

When you entered Canada, you should have asked for a Visitor Record for the child to match the length of your permits. If you are near the Canada-US border, I suggest that you flagpole and get him a Visitor Record.

Can I go to border to get visitor record?
if i get the visitor record will that be sufficient for medical insurance?

Thanks for your response.

You will need to clarify with the insurance company if a Visitor Record will be sufficient but I believe that it would be.
