I did find security screening in my activities page. It is a long wait now...

I won't speculate and neither do I like that. If IRCC has sent your file for security screening, to CSIS and CBSA, it may take longer. However, just because you see security screening, does not by itself mean a long wait. Give it some time and see.

And if you are concerned about it, you can ask CSIS when they processed your file. The procedure is listed in Question G on the first page of this thread.

Thanks legalfalcon. I did went through this thread. There are three activities listed under security screening which is similar to what everyone faced who under similar situation. On page 2 of my notes it does say due date of 18th Aug. I don't know whether this is of any significance or not.

In my experience the due date is not important as many files are processed way before that and some keep lingering much after that. Irrespective, you should keep the hopes high and not lose heart.

Thanks.

Are these are actual known facts s or personal point of view?

Because the word is around there's 2 types of security checks: shorter ones for fsw, and screening for pnp applicants

The IRCC trends keep changing from time to time. However, for PNP since their eligibility is vetted by the province, their eligibility goes in progress fairly quickly. MyCIC status page is not the most accurate way of knowing at what stage your application is at. Instead, you should order GCMS and see if you have cleared eligibility, R10, criminality etc.

What I wrote in the post is from the time when the PNP would see BGC go in progress fairly quick.
I beg to disagree.

I'm OINP and only on May 1st eligibility passed, aor date is Dec 6th!

Additional verification could mean anything from seeking additional documents from foreign governments to investigation from another investigation agency. Usually it may add 3-5 weeks, but if there are no concerns, not are than that.
It added 3 months and counting

These are general trends. In early and mid 2016, PNP was the fastest followed by CEC. Since its changed now, what we see here is just what is going around. IRCC does not disclose what their priorities are, which keeps changing.

All PNPs are waiting to see any progress and their applications seen to be going at a snail's pace. Apart from waiting and checking the status, nothing much can be done.

Hi, this is a little bit off topic but since related to legal things I thought I can ask it here:
Few years ago, while driving from Niagara falls to Chicago , GPS toke me by mistake to Canada border ( really 1 min drive) and I told the officer that I have no intention of entering Canada (I am not US citizen and had not my passport with me) and I get there because of GPS and they accepted my explanation but asked me to sign something (not sure what was it but prob. the voluntary withdrawal?) Anyhow, I only had a US driver license with me and not passport and then returned to US ( again not sure if I technically get into Canada or just was at Border). Now my question is if this should be reported? I received my AOR 2 month ago and forget to mention anything about this (somehow I just remembered this) . Should I send an email to CIC? do I need to get a lawyer for this?

Hi Legal,
In my GCMS, it is showing s16(1)(c) on the second page of GCMS notes. My security is still "Not Started". Then what could be the reason for s16(1)(c) ?? Is it dangerous ???? Do i need to worry ???

There is no need to mention this as you never entered Canada. The document you signed was a voluntary declaration for refusal to enter Canada. No need to go to a lawyer for this and you need not mention this either.

s 16(c) states:

16 (1) The head of a government institution may refuse to disclose any record requested under this Act that contains

(c) information the disclosure of which could reasonably be expected to be injurious to the enforcement of any law of Canada or a province or the conduct of lawful investigations, including, without restricting the generality of the foregoing, any such information

(i) relating to the existence or nature of a particular investigation,
(ii) that would reveal the identity of a confidential source of information, or
(iii) that was obtained or prepared in the course of an investigation;

Most likely the security has begin or some sort of investigation is going on in the background. There is nothing to be concerned about as most applicants have s16 retracted stuff in the notes. This is routine.
