I got admission in University of Alberta. I have applied for student visa online on 20/07/2017 from Pakistan. I got my pre medicals and biometrics done. I will share my latest application status here.
If there is anyone else who has applied from Pakistan during the same period, plz share their timeline/ status and discuss issues if any.

I have applied on the same date 20/07/2017 from VFS Lahore, paper based. I am admitted to University of Windsor for Masters program on self financing. No upfront medical. My start date is 7th Sept, 2017.

Until today, I have the same application status as yours.
How did you apply? Online or Paper based? If paper then from where? Level of studies? Scholarship or self? Program start date?

Hi, As mentioned earlier I applied online for Masters level program. I got scholarship for the same and my start date is 1st Sep 2017

I still don't get why bimetrics aren't updated.

The biometrics should change from "required..." to "completed" it took 2 days in my case. But one of the officials there said that sometimes it takes time and you should not worry abt that

I hope so man. It's 8th August. The 30 days for submitting biometrics end on 14th august after which application gets cancelled if biometrics not provided. I hope none of that happens. Is there any way to contact them about it or should I just wait?

I think it should be updated and dont worry your application wont be cancelled as u got proof that u did biometrics, i hope u have the receipt with u, just in case.

Yes I have the receipt. Also, did you upload the optional documents meaning the letter of explanation? I didn't do it. Any idea if it would make any difference.

Yes, I uploaded the letter of explanation just to tell them why I was late in submitting the visa application and requesting them to issue visa before my classes begin. But I dont think that will make any difference. They take final decision based on your docs and info provided. So I think it dosent matter much I u have not uploaded one.

Brothers I hope you all get visas and meet up there someday but my story would put your timeline in perspective. I applied for study permit on January 27th through vfs karachi. NO upfront medical. I got medical request 5 months after i submitted my application. I passed medical on 10th july and my application was approved on 3rd august. I submitted my passport along with my application and i received it back from islamabad on 7th august. Hope this helps.

Hello, thanks for sharing your experience and congratulations on your visa approval.

That's a pretty long timeline though. Did u apply in jan 2017 for sept 2017 intake? Also u said u "passed Medicals". Is there any status update after you submit you application? Coz though I did my pre Medicals before I submitted my application online and uploaded the emedical form that I received from the doctor along with my online application as a proof of my medical exam, my application status after online submission says " you don not need medical exam. We will let you know of this changes"
Did this happen in you case as well?
And how long it took for the background check status to change?
