Will she be able to come back into Canada? My family members are saying she needs something called the PR card to come back in as the visa will expire? is this true?

Her PR got accepted and shes coming to visit me before she has to return for university final year in September.

When she finishes in April can she use her PR again to enter canada in 2018?

Any help would be appreciated.

It is not clear from what you have said, precisely what your wife has and has not got.

Have you sponsored her under spousal sponsorship? If so, has she received her Confirmation of Permanent Residence forms (aka CoPR)? If so, then then will have an expiry date on it, which is the date by which she must land in Canada and declare permanent residence. When she does this, she will be asked a Canadian address for where they should send he PR Card. This PR Card will normally then follow 2 or 3 months later. Once she has that, then she can get back into Canada if she leaves for one year.

They will send the PR card to her Canadian address after she has 'landed' in Canada. If she goes back home before she gets it, you can mail it to her or send it by courier. She will need it to get back into Canada.

More importantly she needs the PR card to be able to board a plane to come to Canada . If no PR card she would then need to apply for a PRTD to travel without the PR card.

She got the PR and just landed recently. She gave my address for the PR card. Our address.

So there is no has to return every 6 month rule?

Never heard of a '6 month rule'.

OK, so you are saying she landed recently using her CoPR and gave your address in Canada as where they should send the PR Card. She can certainly leave Canada at any time. However, she will not be able to board a plane coming back to Canada (the airline won't let her) until she either has the PR Card in her hands, OR unless or until she obtains a PRTD (Permanent Residents Travel Document - a 'one-off' piece of paper that can be obtained though the local Canadian Visa Office, but it is a fair old form with lots of attachments and may take a few days or weeks to be processed). The only way 'around' this might be for her to fly to the USA and for you to pick her up by private car and drive back through the border - in which case, her stamped copy of the CoPR would work).

The PR Card 'should' come through in about 2.5 months (current times quoted as 61 calendar days, allow a few days either end of that for post). For current processing timescales, see here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/information/times/index.asp You should then courier it over to her (I did this for my wife's card). I would use a 'proper' courier firm (i.e. NOT Canada Post).

Once she has her PR Card, she can return on the next flight if she wants.

The only 6 month rule would be for health care. If she's only coming for a month she won't be eligible until she returns. It's not a barrier to leaving.
