Final Decision: 'Your application was approved' Girlfriend getting visa?

Greetings everyone,

I posted here a few months ago: My GF (Serbian) and I (Canadian) met in Russia on exchange and hit it off. She tried to come here twice on TRV but was rejected both times. She submitted her application online in Russia

Now, she was invited by Carleton University on a 1 semester student exchange (so still TRV). She did the application through the visa centre in Vienna (via Belgrade) After linking her account to CIC, she got this message


Final Decision: Your application was approved. Check your messages below for details.


There are no messages below but I see that above this is her name, counterfoil, and expiry date (which from a search means the date that her visa will be valid for ARRIVAL into Canada)


Does this mean that she is 100% approved and coming to Canada. It’s a Friday so she won’t be able to pickup her Passport until next week?

I am confused because the VAC website only says
'Visa application, tracking ID No.20170724RSBETRV07417– Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office VIENNA,AUSTRIA, on 28/07/2017 to the Canada Visa Application Centre.To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website'


Would appreciate any clarification, After 2 rejections a third rejection would mean it would be impossible for her to come practically.

You will need to check with the VAC as they have rules and statuses that only have meaning for them.

In general CIC doesn't tell if the TRV was approved or not, it only requests the passport and most of the cases it comes back with the TRV.

Hello, Ronjames! I also got the same message earlier on my account. I applied via paper application and linked it on my account. On my account it also stated the Counterfoil Document Number and valid until July 1, 2022. I still have to wait for my passport though. Congratulations to you and to your girlfriend

Hello, Malaika28! Yes. I did get my passport with the visa last Friday. Validity of the visa is until July 1, 2022. Congratulations to you!
