We opened a Canadian bank account during our vacation, and it's getting real. But a student visa is just not the same.
Still in Canada. After your study permit, you will have a better CRS. As you said, you don't lose points on age anymore :D

Hi all ,

I uploaded my profile in may and from then in the pool with 403. ( NOC 1123)
Received a call from ontario but will not be accepting it for now.
I have booked my IELTS again (Exam date : August 19th)
My previous score was L:7.5 W:7.5 S:8 R:6

A CLB9 would take my score to 469 and I want to give it my best and get that score !

# If I could get some help with tips , links , suggestions - I would be happy.
# k_narik@hotmail.com , is my mail id - just in case.

Uff - CLB9 !!!!

Thanks in advance and all the best to all .

My suggestion for IELTS is to have that self confidence of cracking that score. I am not undermining the preparation that is required but if you believe that you could get the score with the required potential you would get it. It's also about your mind set on that day. Concentration is another important factor for improving your score. Bottom line is we can't improve our English within this period but we can sharpen the traits required for bettering the scores. When the requirement for student permit was at least 6 In all the four bands I performed as such and secured 7.0 overall, when the requirement for me for one university was at least 7 each in all bands I did get that with the same potential but the difference was better concentration with more or less similar preparation and the push I gave to myself on the day of the exam. When I had seen my friend securing 9 in listening then it inspired that 9 is gettable so I ended up getting 8.5 with the same potential and better concentration and the desire to get it.

Hello,
Long time lurker, posting for the first time. Me and my wife both scored CLB9 in yesterday's ielts result. Got lucky the first time itself. Will be joining the pool as soon as the TRF arrives from bc. My wife would be the primary applicant, with an CRS of 438.

The forum has been a great source of information and encouragement all this time. I hope everyone receives their ITA soon. I would miss the next draw for sure. Won't be getting my TRF by then.

Looking forward to the next day of hope thread. Thanks once again everyone for their valuable information and support.

Cheers!

I used the option given earlier in the thread and got my TRF number.. and checked my earlier IELTS certificate and realised the date of result is the same that is printed on the certificate. So I updated my EE profile using that and now our score has been updated.. you could do the same.. All the best!

Let me start out by remind everyone that because of my age/low score, I've got more reason to hope that the score drops than almost everyone here. But I need to be realistic to make appropriate long term plans to improve my maxed out score. So here are my thoughts on the next draw.

I didn't do my own predictions because it appears that several people are using very similar methodology to calculate the rate of new entrants into the pool. It's the rate of new entrants over the last cut off and the rate between the last cut-off and the projected new cut-off that are having most effect on the cut-off right now.

With that said, the folks that are looking at those rates are predicting a much smaller drop than those who say "last time it dropped x points from 440." When you also factor in the draws have been for roughly 500 fewer ITAs in the last two draws, it also suggests a much smaller drop. Based on the other folks analysis, I'm guessing the CRS will be 436 unless the number of ITAs increases again.

I know these thoughts won't make me any friends, but I don't want people to be crushed when the score doesn't drop as much as they think it should.

My master's in Toronto starts in January. I need to work harder on the French. I will get my score up no matter how long it takes. The only good side about being old is that they can't subtract any more points on my birthday, lol.
Well u set a hard target for people like me who are not very far behind in terms of age. I appreciate your conviction tjsecondtry and though i already have a masters and a clb10 im just not able to gather that momentum to get started on french.

Good luck with ur masters and french, may be i should reassert, a masters again in canada is not a bad idea though

Hello seemab,
You must have taken the test with idp. Mine is British council, they do not have any service for online viewing of trf. I have found a way of figuring out my TRF but I don't want to take any chances. So I'll wait for the delivery.

Could anyone confirm the TRF is actually formatted this way:

<Year><Country Code><Candidate Number><First Three Characters Of Surname><First Character Of Given Name (First Name)><Test Center Code (numeric part)><Type of IELTS (General or Academic)>

Eg: 14IN123456ABCX123G

<14><IN><123456><ABC><X><123><G>

Thanks

The TRF format is correct but the correct result date printed on the report is also needed in the EE profile. Online result date is not always the same as the result date on the physical report (the date next to the TRF number). I took IELTS 3 times so I know this.

I have given IELTS with British Council, by the way.
