I had the same KC01824 officer. He put appears bona fide, recommend wav and recommend pass on our application but yet made us wait almost 15 months.

I was helping this other lady that had a child and she was confident that she'd be approved. She was called in for the interview not worried at all because she was confident her marriage was genuine. They had a child together afterall. If I can recall she's been waiting since late 2015 when she submitted her application. She just got denied because they didn't feel her sponsor would be able to support her and their child. Cic believed the marriage was genuine but who would have thought about the financial aspect.

So I'd try to proof as best possible any financial support concerns they may have. Not just your income but how you'll support each other housing wise, food, clothing, etc...

Sorry kind of late with this response haven't checked forum much lately.
Glad to see your replies! Didn't notice them until now. Uh oh... Sounds like KC01824 officer is not the greatest one to have, and really slow. I wonder how many different officers their are in Singapore... Buonqua had a clean, simple, straight forward, recommend pass file and it even took 15 months (which would have been longer if you didn't contact the supervisor), so I wonder how long MY file is going to take with this slow officer since they have some concerns with us. If I pass the 12 month mark, then maybe I'll get the email address of the supervisor that you send an email to and see if that works for us to speed things up! I noticed in our GCMS notes that there was no BFD date under application assignment, and no "assigned to and assigned by" either, so I really hope that they won't forgot about my file since they didn't pick a best before date date to look at the file again... The GCMS explanation mentioned there should be a date here so I'm slightly concerned now...

Ouch. That's really sad! I feel terrible for that lady :( Can't believe she was actually rejected. May I ask what country she is from? Using the Singapore office? I really went into this thinking that proving the genuineness of marriage was the most important thing, and the income wasn't a big deal if I had support letter from family (so naive me thought that quitting my job and moving to Thailand would help show that our marriage is very genuine, but now that causing more concerns)... At least our eyes are now VERY OPEN to the possibility of rejection, so we will collect some extra evidence to send, and know that if we have an interview, to take this concern of finances very very seriously and have a lot of proof at interview so we're not rejected.

Thanks so much for opening our eyes even wider!

My background check was change yesterday from : your application is in progress to we are processing your background check.
Any idea for help me how long will get PR ???
Wow!!! Congrats!! That's so exciting that they are now processing your background check, and recently requested your medical too! Yippee!!!! You're moving along so quickly! Very happy for you and your husband! No idea how long the background check will take. Some people can be very quick (within a couple of days \ of starting BGC) and others are a lot longer (months and months), so I have no idea. Hopefully on the quicker end for you!

Did you receive your GCMS notes yet? If so, which processing agent is processing your file?

Woohoo!!! That's amazing!!! So happy for you two!!! Would have liked this so many times over if I could! So quick!! No need to have worried! :) Seems like there is still hope for KC01824, maybe after getting their knuckles slapped for going so slow on Buonqua's file, maybe she is under closer supervision, behaving better and going at a better clip now (at least for bonafide, recommend pass files!) Light at the end of the tunnel. Congrats again!

I have similar problem like CdnWifeLivinginThailand regarding financials.

I lived the last 3.5 years mainly in Vietnam. Never worked in Canada or Vietnam during those times. I made sure to at least come back to Canada once or twice a year for a couple months so I don't get labeled non-resident in Canada.

My worries were if I were to be labeled a non-resident of Canada I would have to proof my intentions to return to Canada and the financial means to support my wife and our 2 babies.

I know not every couples can afford to go back and forth to Canada but maybe just once might not deem you a non-resident of Canada residing abroad in the eyes of the Singapore officer.
Thanks for expanding on this financial concern while living abroad Buonqua. For tax purposed, I'm actually still a "Canadian resident" since there is a special exemption for religious workers working overseas to either file as a non-resident OR as a factual resident, so technically I'm a FACTUAL Canadian resident for tax purposes and still pay all of my taxes on self-employment income... But I doubt that IRCC really cares since I'm not a physical resident in Canada as you pointed out. Maybe I should send in my most recent tax return/Notice of Assessment for 2017 to show my most recent taxable income AND that I'm considered a factual Canadian resident (showing I still have ties to Canada and intend to return and don't want to give up my residency for tax purposes)! I also continue to have my OHIP health coverage abroad since I also made a similar exemption for up to 5 years that I intend to return to Ontario, and will have health coverage as soon as I return. So maybe I should also send that as proof that I intend to return...

Ya, that would ideally be good to head home a few times a year to show that I'm still interested in being in Canada. But it's hard for me to return to Canada since a) I don't want to be separated from my spouse (but I know many need to suffer this way during this process unfortunately so maybe I need to too), b) don't want to waste money on that and c) I think I'm already deemed a non-resident in their eyes since my job is based in Thailand right now as a religious worker while we wait and it's hard to justify going home unnecessarily. That being said, my parents have said that they want to fly me home this coming Christmas or July 2018 for a visit if we haven't been approved PR yet, so I guess that could be good to do and send in documentation afterwards proving the visit home... I was leaning towards July 2018 (to go to my cottage on the lake! and much cheaper than Christmas time!) but maybe Christmas would be ideal since it is sooner and could maybe help move the case ahead quicker...

Crossing my fingers for you that you get PPR quickly, similar to Buonqua's timeline! If you don't get it in the next couple of days, it could be interesting to order the GCMS notes, just so you can see what they have said about your file, what visa agent processed your file, and if you don't get PPR quickly, then you can see what's going on. You might not even get the notes until after you already have PPR since they take 30 days or so, but cool to see what has happened in your file after the fact (at least I think so). Only $5 for someone living in Canada and/or a Canadian citizen living abroad to order the notes on your behalf :) They can apply online here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp?_ga=1.158477754.1283833685.1456609341 after you sign and scan in a IMM5744 here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/form-imm5744.asp

nothing to worry about this KC01824 is slow. I've had to get his/her supervisor twice to get a move on my wife's file.

He wrote recommend wav, interview wav and bona fide in early July 2016. Late May 2017 I wrote his supervisor in a round a bout way why my wife's file taking so long. In couple days they request my wife do her medical and within 3 business days they requested her passport. Less than 2 weeks they returned the passport with visa and Copr.

If he put the same on your file might just be prepared to ride out the normal processing time. I do hope I'm wrong and it's done quicker.
I had KC01824 for my file also and everything was done under 8 months

That's good to hear :) So just one really slow experience for Buonqua, but seems like many others had good, relatively quick processed files! Phew!!

and also they said:
"We are returning all of the documentary evidence that you submitted in support of your relationship with your sponsor. You may wish to bring this and any other material with you to the interview. Do not bring duplicates and phone cards."

Has anyone experienced this?
is the queue for interview really 24 months?

Submitted application- March 19

Hi,

Many applicants face the interview process. In a spousal sponsorship it is almost always because CIC doubts the relationship is genuine.

Your wife will receive a package containing the evidences provided.

It won't take 24 months. Last year when my wife's app was being processed applicants were waiting 6 to 9 months for interview dates.

I don't know your relationship profile but I suggest sending more proof of relationship via Case Specific Enquiry. I would also go visit if you can.

There are many threads on the forum to help your wife prepare for an interview that I recommend you search up.

Although rare, it is possible to have the interview cancelled. I've seen two forum members - three if I count myself - successfully have the interview waived after receiving the interview queue letter.

It was a mix of persistence, bombardment of relationship proofs, leaving my job with a nice severance at a very convenient time, moving in with my wife and my in-laws in a remote Indonesian village, and last but not least a very well crafted email addressed to the Risk Assesment Officer and First Secretary of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore that led to a response from him two weeks later that he personally reviewed and approved our application. We were told we were approved while MyCIC still said that the background check and final decision hadn't been started and two days later we received PPR.

Good luck with your app.

Hi,

https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=singapore

I recommend you only send strong proofs. I sent over the course of our application.. proof of daily phone calls, western union receipts dated every two weeks for over a year, passport stamps from my visits after we applied, boarding passes of flights taken together, photos of us, and my Indonesian visa extension sponsored by my wife.
