employment reference letter

Hi guys,

Just got my ITA recently, when I work on my employment reference letter, I sent en email to my previous employer for a letter request this Monday and haven't heard back from her. Just thinking what can I do if she doesn't give me one? It's only 130 hrs, I got my ROE&T4, the detail signed contract with my name, title, duties, company info, etc. Can I submit these as support documents and explain I have tried my best to request a letter?

Can somebody please give me a suggestion?

If I were you, I would probably write one by myself with all the real details and ask the employer to just sign on it to save them time. I don't think they'd have extra time to write the letter for a previous employee.

Yes, I did what you will do. I sent them a draft letter this Monday and still not hear back from them. So I am kind of worried

You would also need proof of hours worked per week... possibly the ROE shows that....

If that is true, then that is your only option, and it does work sometimes. Your supporting documentation is good. However, sending a single email and waiting 2 days - that is not trying your "best," that is barely trying.

It is a good suggestion to provide your previous employer with a draft letter. Follow up with a phone call, or if possible, a face-to-face visit. In case she never responds or refuses, document all your efforts to contact her and responses, to include in your letter of explanation.

I sent it with a draft letter as well… But at least she should simply let me know if she would like to do it, right?
When I called her cell and tried to talk about the letter, she just picked up the phone and cut it down immediately…I don't even have a chance to talk to her. Not a good sign, eh? So I am kind of worried now…

Yeesh. Include that info in your Letter of Explanation (as well as her contact info). Well, do you have a former colleague who would write a letter for you?

That's rude. Can't you just walk into your old company and have her sign the file in person? If you do that by email, she'd have to sign and scan back to you. It made extra work for her, that's might be why she doesn't want to do it.
