Hi my application for spousal sponsorship visa is well underway I've done my medical and police check recently. My question is in regards to our first baby due to arrive close to when we want to move to canada.
I am British and my wife is Canadian. We would like the baby to have a canadian passport and a UK passport however the canadian passport will be harder to obtain due to the baby being born in the UK.
The processing times for applying for a Canadian passport for babies born abroad can be 5 months, and we'd have to get a proof of citizenship certificate which seems to be long winded. Instead of staying in the UK until this is done would it be possible to get a UK passport and travel to Canada to apply for the Canadian passport whilst the baby is in Canada?
Which would you recommend, get the UK one and travel then apply for Canadian? Or apply for the Canadian one whilst still in the UK before travelling?
many thanks
