My wife's Permanent Card is expiring and she is currently living with me (her Canadian spouse) outside Canada. Right now we cannot afford to make a trip to Canada to get her PR card (expiring soon, not yet expired)renewed. I have read about travel document does anyone has experience in dealing with the travel document. Is there any risk of not getting travel document once PR card is expired and the person is out of country? Whats the maximum period she can stay outside Canada with expired PR card?

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

Why don´t you go to the Canadian Consulate in the country you are now. They might be able to renew your PR card and give you some information.

You can't renew your PR card from outside of Canada. Once they are ready to return, his wife will apply for a PR travel document. She can stay outside of Canada for as long as she wants since she is accompanying a citizen spouse.
