Does visiting Iraq has a negative effect on my application?

I recently (2 months ago) submitted my PR application. It is not final yet, but I might have to visit Iraq for business purposes. I was wondering if Iraq stamp on my passport would have any adverse effects on my application?

Do I also have to report every country I visit after I submit my application? I will also visit United Arab Emirates, Germany and Macedonia in the next 2 months.

No. Why do you think there is a problem?

You do have to provide travel history in the past 10 years in one of PR application form. CIC has right to ask for an update of address and travel history during the application, and it seems to be quite common.

So, I gather, there is no problem for me to visit Iraq that will cause any unpleasantness. I was afraid that it is a black listed country and me visiting it might make me shady.

LOL - Iraq isnt a black listed country coz its under "US" control... visiting North Korea maybe, even Iran isnt a big deal...

Besides you already submitted your application - nothing to worry about now, you dont even have to send them an updated travel history form unless they ask for it.

Actually CBSA has some secret internal instructions to take particular attention to people with some high risk countries passports, that was only uncovered by investigative journalists and was seen as shameful and embarrassing to the government agency.

There is no black list that prevent you to enter Canada

I'd think North Korea is a lesser deal than Iran because you are heavily watched and can't veered off your tour guide. In fact, they won't even know if you've been to North Korea because they don't stamp your passport (My friend traveled there by train from China)

I am wondering if this has changed? as at now are there any implications on future TRV renewals and future PR applications for anyone who has traveled to Iraq in 2019?
