Hi,

I am a graduate from a Canadian University on a 3 year post-graduate work permit. I am just wondering if it is possible to count work as a real estate agent or real estate assistant towards a Permanent Residency application? I understand that with most residential real estate firms you work as an independent contractor which seems like it would not work. Hoping someone has heard of someone who has managed to make this career path work.

Thanks

I worked as a real estate agent for a year and I chose not to count this work experience as it would have been too difficult to claim the employee-employer relationship needed to claim points for Canadian work experience.

Self-employment experience in Canada will not add any CRS points to your application.

Thanks for the Reply, this was my assumption but I wanted to check just in case.

I`m dealing with this situation now. I have worked for 2 real estate agents as their adm assistant. I come to the office Mon-Fri, 9 to 3, get paid every second week. And now I`m wondering if CEC will accept that into the category, or even applying under Express Entry - Skilled Worker.
According to my boss he is my client. It doesn't make sense that. They hired me as their assistant, even though they say I am an independent contractor. I`m just nervous for applying and getting a rejection from immigration.

Did you get a T4 this year to file your taxes? If not, what did you receive?
