Accept or Decline Dilemma

Hi Guys,

I had created by express entry profile some time in April, I am the primary application with a dependent spouse. Both be and my spouse had valid IELTS scores at the time of creating the profile. Later I received an ITA which I am currently gathering the documentation for. My spouse's IELTS expires on July 23 2017, her scores for this were Speaking 8.0 / Reading 7 / Listening 8.5 / Writing 8.5.

Since I am still collecting my documents I do not think I will be able to submit the application before the 23rd so my spouse gave her IELTS again and this time her scores are a little less : Speaking 8.5 / Reading 6.5 / Listening 7.0 / Writing 8.5.

So now the dilemma is: When I created the express entry profile I got the points based on a higher score however now when it comes time to submit the application the scores are different. Should I decline the current ITA and get back into the pool or should I just submit the app with the new scores?

please advice.

Thanks,
Dan

You must decline unless you're able to submit everything before July 23rd.

Is there a comparative advantage to declining the invitation, as opposed to just allowing it to expire? I mean, the deadline is just 11 days away.

Unless I read incorrectly it is his spouse's IETLS the one that is expiring soon not his ITA, so the advantage of declining it to be back in the pool for another invite.

Yes, you are right. My spouse's IELTS expires on July 23rd. I went ahead and declined the ITA and will update my profile with the new scores. Hope I get lucky again. Thank you all for your responses and viewpoints.

Yes, they do go down by 7 points. My score was 420 when the ITA was awarded and the cut off score then was 415.
As you have seen in the recent draws points have gone up a lot, so even if you decline you might have to wait for a while to get another ITA.
So try your best to submit before July 23, if not you might have to walk the PNP way to boost your CRS.

Good luck.

I had a similar incident happen and I called them and was told on 3 separate occasions that once an ITA is sent out your information therein is "frozen" so my IELTS expiring after the ITA was sent wouldn't be a problem. It was only if they had expired prior to receiving the ITA

Nope.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp

Note: Your test results must be valid (less than two years old) when you complete your Express Entry profile, and when you apply for permanent residence.

"and when you apply", hence they need to be valid when you submit your application (AOR). ITA is only an invitation to apply.
