No, you still have the 3 months waiting period. But in Québec (I don't know for Ontario), showing CoPR before receiving the card would have change something on the card (I think the expiration date). We called RAMQ the week after my wife landed and they said we cannot do anything now because your card is in production today, but they told us, it doesn't matter, it doesn't change the services covered or anything, the change will be made when you renew your card next year.
Yes, the wait is still 90 days. The update takes them about 15 seconds to complete. They pull up the account, click a button, punch a hole in your OHIP card, and print a paper that is to accompany the card when you use it. A few weeks later, they ship a new card.

You're drawing on my health informatics days now.... In Ontario, the cards have exactly the same numbers for the person, for their life. There is two letters at the end of the card number. This is called the "Version Code". That version code changes, once a new card is issued, or a "fundamental change" to the account occurs. It also doesn't change services covered. But, it's considered a fundamental change (temporary to permanent).

If I knew what ECAS said (including what's under the links for "Sponsorship Application" and "Permanent Residence Application" (there is more detail if you click the link), I could comment on when I felt you might be done. I don't trust anything MyCIC says anymore.
Well its saying this
  1. We received your application for permanent residence on May 24, 2016.
  2. Medical results have been received.
  3. We sent you correspondence on July 9, 2017. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

Yeah, contact a call centre rep. They want docs. Recently there was a bug or "glitch" where MyCIC was telling people they wanted documents, but there was no messages regarding what documents. This was proven to be a false message.

we also keep the same number. There is a second number under our name, called "numéro séquentiel", so kind of sequential number, which indicate the number of new card you had.
But now I remember one important thing they told us, because she did not have the CoPR when they produced the card, there will be no letter sent to my wife to remind her to renew her card next year. In Québec, I don't know for other provinces, the first card for immigrants is valid only for a year after which you have to prove you were residing in Québec for at least 6 months in the year. After that, there will be an automatic annual renewal like any other Quebecers. A new card with a new photo every 4 years.

Here, the renewal is 5 years. Only when you are on a Work Permit do you get that type of request (to prove you still reside in Canada (and proof of address in Ontario)).

That said, pretty close!

OHIP was easy. But wife had that already (they just punched a hole in it, and gave her a paper to use with it).

I tried to have "the talk" with Carol, but I don't think she listened. She hasn't told us that she has a card yet....

TBH: It really doesn't matter. Except: my wife booked a trip home for August 8 or 9th (can't remember which -- both days were tossed about). We'd prefer to avoid the problem of leaving without a walid wisa or PR Card....if we can avoid it....

Oh? I've said it many times before, and it has been proven.
@dominicantiguan keep in mind, they start the BG check early on (pretty much once the file has been created). So, you likely won't see it happening. And in MyCIC it doesn't ever change again, until after landing.
