Hi all,

I am currently 1 month in to my first 6 month visitor visa and circumstance may call for me to apply for a second one when this one runs out... Is it hard to get another? what are the chances of success? I am from Australia if that plays any role.

Also, while I am on my 6 month visitor visa, does that mean I can come and leave Canada as I please for the duration of the 6 months? Or must they approve me back in again?

Answers to these questions would help a lot!

Thanks in advance
Jeremy

You are from Australia, so you should be visa-exempt...is there any Canada visa counterfoil/sticker in your passport?

You are probably referring to a 6-month visitor status. If you wish to remain in Canada for more than 6 months, you will have to apply for an extension:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

They must approve you back in again.

Hi

To clarify, you don't have a visitor visa; you have visitor status.

You can apply to extend your visitor status before your current status expires. Provided you can show sufficient proof of finances and proof of the PR app, you should have no issues.

No, an extension doesn't allow you to come and go. Every time you enter Canada, you will be assessed as a brand new visitor.

If I have my PR application in and I want to re-enter Canada as a visitor while it processes does it help to tell them that at the border? Or is that a bad idea.

Yes, tell them that you have a PR app in process and are visiting your spouse while it processes.
