IP2 to PPR - from 1 day to 2 weeks. A few cases in tracker waiting for 30 days too..however mostly it comes for 80% of people under 2 weeks.
And if someone is really unlucky to be stuck in security...up to a year!
You have 30 days time after PPR to submit passports.
How can we know if it will take long time for security, through gcms only correct?

Thanks i read the first post but couldnt find where can i know if my security will take a long time or not
Actually that is what he mentioned that they do not mention about security there, due to confidentiality reasons, that part of GCMS is kept blank.
So maybe if your security is not started by then, they may mention not started but not anything else, or maybe that is kept blank again due to confidentiality reasons. As much i have read about it, it seems its CIC s call on this and mostly they keep it blank.
But I think you should not be worried much about security here, if one is a good moral citizen and have had no connection to any fishy organisation etc., nothing to worry about security. You will be fine.

I believe there was something mentioned about s15 or 16 that means that security will take a long time and they say that sometimes candidates are picked randomly for more in depth screening

What are the additional documents that you were asked to send

s15 is rarely applied, and maybe random at times, where as s16 is done mostly on inland applicants. These sections enable CIC to not disclose any information they may have requested for a particular candidate from other agencies. s15 is mostly applied if they had to retrieve and check some information regarding you from some agency and then they do not wish to disclose it in your GCMS, this is mostly done for applicants with some afliation to some fishy organisations, or people who were employed in government and military services and lastly employees of companies , which were involved in some criminal activity etc.
Can it be random? Yes it can.
Can it delay our application? Yes it can.
Is it common? No, its rare as long as you are clean.
So as long as you are unfortunately a rare case to be picked for this quality check or your vO is nuts and puts you for this check, I don't think so you will suffer this fate. probability is very low.
