Hello All

I had applied for my citizenship in March 2017. CIC received my application on Mar.22/2017. I received my first letter of application acknowledgement on Mar.28/2017 with the “Discover Canada” study book link. As per the application status page, CIC has started processing my application on Apr.10/2017. Since then it has been three months now and I haven’t received any response or letter requesting to appear in the test/oath. I have seen people getting test/oath letters within a two-month after the application.

Should I call CIC to get an update? Does it help given that the standard time of processing citizenship application is 12 months as per the website? Moreover, I have to go outside of the country in a two- month time for almost a month. If I am away from the country, will I need to call up CIC to inform that before leaving? I didn’t leave the country during the last four years. I thought that might expedite the process.

Any advice should be helpful.

Thanks

If you check the datasheet here, you'll notice that there are so many people in the same boat including myself. Calling IRCC won't speed up your process. Actually, they'll often tell you that your application is still within normal processing times as it's still less than 12 months.

You may leave Canada according to this link, but you need to keep in mind that they may send you a test invite at anytime while abroad, so it's better to notify them about your travel plans just to remain on the safe side.
