People get rejected for study visa even if they are in top universities?

I wanted to know whether there are people you know who got their visa rejected while having a letter of acceptance from a top university, say something like Calgary or Western Ontario, but not people who already graduated and tried to take a new graduation in Canada, more like people who were high school students or undergraduate transfers.

And if you don't know any cases like that, do you think it would be likely?

Thanks in advance.

Others can comment but colleges/universities think of an international student generally in terms of a financial transaction given the significant fees
internationals pay over domestics. So getting an acceptance in a top ranked institution is no guarantee or influence to getting a study permit, IRCC will still look at the application as a whole and may still reject for least obvious reason.

I see, that is what I wanted to know, whether it influenced, because another user in the forums made it sound like it did. Thank you for clarifying.

I still am hunting for cases to look at and understand why and how they were rejected tho.

Yes - there are certainly cases where individuals have been rejected from top universities. The chances of approval are higher if you're attending a top university. However you can still be refused for the normal reasons like lack of funds, lack of ties to home country, low IELTS score, etc.
