Hi there. My friend has very serious problem with family sponsorship.
Here is situation:
Spouses got PR status about 4 years ago. Wife didn't live in Canada (visited Canada few times per year, in total maybe one month per year). Husband lived and worked in Canada all this period. The reason of such behaviour: she has a job in the country of origin, that she can't leave due to pension plan and agreement with company.

They applied to new PR cards, and wife's application was declined. Her husband started family sponsorship process, but as they live in different countries and miss each other, he wants to go to his wife's country.

Does she allow to do that? Or maybe there are other ways to resolve this problem?

If the husband is a PR, he must be physically residing in Canada for the duration of PR app processing. He can go visit her for short/temporary vacations, but can't live with her. If he is gone long enough that IRCC thinks he is no longer residing in Canada, they could cancel the application.

Was her PR status officially revoked? Assume so since that would be required before a new PR app could be submitted.

If she can come as a visitor, she could stay in Canada while PR app is processing.

Thanks for your reply. As I know PR status was not revoked, only application for new PR was declined.

PR renewal app being declined, would automatically result in PR status being revoked if you didn't decide to appeal.

It is not good. So they have only two options:
  1. He will stay in Canada until family sponsorship process will be finished
  2. He will move to her country, and just refuse to get PR.

Yes - that's right.

If she intends to stay and work in her home country for the immediate future, then it doesn't sound like they want to keep Canadian PR much anyways.
