Non-accompanying spouse. Please help me out?!

My wife received an ITA. I was listed as an non-accompanied spouse in the beginning. However, I don't want her to change it to accompanying because it would lower her score below the threshold and cause her to be ineligible to apply for PR. Can she sponsor me at a later date being that she already living in Canada on a post graduate work permit? Also how long it will take her to get me there if she can? Furthermore, is it possible for me to apply for a work permit?

Yes she can sponsor you at a later date though it would take some time. apparently the liberal government is trying to limit the time frame to a year, that means after she eventually gets her PR and invites you it could take a year ( it would take some time for applicants to see if CIC is keeping its word on that). Yes you can apply for open work permit since she is there (check one of the forums, it appears CIC is not very generous with these permits but it takes about 3 months for some persons depending on country etc).. Bear in mind that she would have to provide all documents (police record, medical) for you even if you won't be joining her. Given the numbers in the pool, it's evident the scores would go down, another option would be to wait for the next 2 draws and see if you can apply together (of course you would have to create a new profile)..if not you can chose the other options above.

Work permit is only an option if the spouse being sponsored is physically in Canada and if the inland sponsorship process is used. If the person being sponsored is physically outside of Canada - no work permit is available.

Thanks for your assistance. However, can I apply for a open work permit before she gets her PR even though I was declared as non-accompanied spouse on her paper works?
