Does anyone know how long it usually takes to finish background check?
Our file is showing "Background check is in progress" still December 21, 2016.
Medicals will be expiring in early September

I think it will be completed at the time of final decision.

How to check detailed status through online account using GC key ?
I have successfully logged inusin GCKEY and also linked my application.
But dont know how new message will come ?
And in message column, what does DATA SEND and DATA READ columns stands for ?

When ever there is new message , you would get an email as well.

Here is what said on the website "For messages about your application/profile, see "check status and messages" under the "submitted applications or profiles" section. Note: The "submitted applications or profiles" section appears only if you have submitted an application or profile."

I can see big blue color button "Check status and Messages" under ""View my submitted applications or profiles" .
Click that button and you should be able to see all the information


Also it is "Date Sent" and "Date Read" not DATA SEND and DATA READ. That date when the message was sent and date when message was read.

Again important message are under that blue button.

Sorry to hear that it is taking too long. I think background check is different for every one. I heard it took longer for people worked in Police for Military

For me I can say it took 2 or 3 weeks after start showing in progress/process. took almost 3 months for PPR after medical done

Hi, I saw that you are very active on this page and always help people in need. Could you please help me in linking my application. I have read many post but still no success. All posts says that leave city/ town of birth empty and just hit spacebar once but it ask me to fill it and that tab turns red in colour. My mother in law got her medical done in March 2017. Just wanna see if they have started background check. Online status says medical result has been received but nothing after that.

No specific reason. Everything is clear. Only one answer from MP enquiry file in process and gcms notes shows security under process. Its 9 and half year

I think you mean 9 and half months (not year). You had applied in 2010.
Security check take longer for parents traveled alot or working in Military or Police. I am not sure if that is the reason in your case. Or it is different for every visa office?

What about sending email reminder to Visa office?

Yes, it is tricky to attach file.

It is long time, let me think , I would say, do the following

Stick with one option e.g.

Client ID and Date of Birth
or File number and Date or birth etc.
Just choose only one option all the time

I think there are some option you can leave empty

The trick for me was to enter number of persons on file. I have to enter 1 , then two then three then four. For me it never accept correct numbers for me. So as i mentioned above, stick with one option and try with different options, e,g, number of person on file etc.
If you have GCMS notes try to enter information from those notes
Should work for you.

No its above 9 year. We applied in april 2008. This time our 3rd medical going to expire nd all time medical passed of every member. No reply from them for every email or mail. Even our all original documents and passports wid them from last three years
