Does working in a small distribution company count as work experience?

Hello Everyone,
One of my friends is working in his family business in India.
Nature of the business:
They have 2 businesses. One is retail & another is distribution. (Indian Traditional medicines)
Their Annual turnover is more than 3 crores($ 600,000 Canadian Dollars) & they have their registration & they get their accounts audited & file tax returns. Number of employees is 6 along with my friend.My friend takes care of the distribution part of medicines & prepares accounts. He has been working there for 3 years & his salary is deposited in a bank account every month. They don't have provident fund for their employees. He has a B.com degree & he wants to immigrate to Canada. Is his work experience valid for express entry?

As long as he can prove that his employment is genuine, and it fits a NOC code that is eligible, then yes, it should be valid.

Thank you goose for the reply. Yes it's genuine & he can prove it by providing the registration,tax returns,books of accounts. His salary is deposited in a bank. He's working with the distribution business which is a sole proprietor business. Is it okay?

Yes, it should be accepted. Working for a family business always brings up the question, but if you have all the paperwork in order, it helps prove it.

However, you still have to match his job duties to a NOC code that makes him eligible for Express Entry.

"at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC)"

You should be able to find a matching NOC code - sounds like his job falls under accounting.

1431(I'm not sure). How likely is he going to be invited under this category if he fulfills rest of the prerequisites?
