No, of course not. As long as five members of the government party are present. After any voice vote with Yay/Nay, they can simply stand up. As long as at least five members rise, the speaker is then forced to take a standing vote. If it's late at night, the standing vote automatically happens the next day. If its during the day, the bells ring for 15-30 minutes to notify everyone anywhere on parliament hill that there is a vote happening. Then there is a standing vote.*Unrelated to c6*
Something like this is usual? Can a bill pass just because most MPs of a party are absent?
It goes to the Senate for all three amendments! After all, the other two amendments were changed by the HoC.So to get my head clear around the process, once vote is passed, is the bill still going to Senate for age amendment? What happens if Senate rejects the proposal or accepts it. Thank you.
Thanks Spyfy. You are awesome. Good night guys. Sleep well.It goes to the Senate for all three amendments! After all, the other two amendments were changed by the HoC.
If the Senate accepts the proposals, it becomes law (likely outcome). If the Senate rejects the proposals, it goes back to the HoC again (unlikely outcome).

Yes...but I wasn't commenting on this aspect. Always good to have additional infoThe worst part of bill C-24 was that it is easier to lose your citizenship than your PR status. The intent to reside and the terrorist clauses really weakened Canadian citizenship. According to CIC:
Losing your permanent resident status
You don’t lose your permanent resident status when your PR card expires. You can only lose your status if you go through an official process.
You can lose your permanent resident status if:
Even if you don't meet the residency obligation, you are still a PR until an official decision is made on your status.
- an adjudicator determines you are no longer a permanent resident after an inquiry or PRTD appeal;
- you voluntarily renounce your permanent resident status;
- a removal order is made against you and comes into force; or
- you become a Canadian citizen.
If Senate accepts HoC changes then the bill goes for royal assent..if not and senate refuses to accept HoC changes then back no forth..Royal assent ..then law...
Only thing to be seen is when are they going to discuss the amended bill in the senate.How fast or slow have they discussed other amended bills sent to senate from Hoc can give a sort of indication.Personally I think 1-2weeks this will receive royal assent.. especially that many of senator were tweeting abt this a lot lately.
If I am not mistaken, there are 2 other conservative MPs in the GTA: Peter Kent and Erin O'TooleYou know the sad thing is that through a mere coincidence (friend of a friend situation) I know the daughter of the Liberal Candidate that lost to him. He is the only Conservative MP of the GTA. That makes it even harder to endure this.
