Hi There,

I needs experts opinions in this matter.

I have applied as single and received my Passport Stamped and document CoPR, Just today.

I have until end of the year to make landing.

I am just wondering what if my marital status changes before landing. I mean what if I get married before landing ?

I know that any big change needs to be informed to CIC. So I would definetley inform that I am married

but my concern is

Can I still make my landing ? or do I need to submit my wife's papers for Express Entry and get them cleared and make landing with her ?

Note : for now I want to move to Canada as myself and bring my wife after I receive my original PR card

Hi

If you get married before landing, you MUST return your documents and add your spouse to your application. You can add her as accompanying or non-accompanying. If you add her as non-accompanying, you will need to sponsor her later on; this may take a year or more and you may be apart during this time if she is unable to get a TRV.

Also, consider getting married in Canada, then sponsor your wife while you both are here. She should be able to get an open work permit while waiting for application approval. I think if you add your wife now before getting the PR, your application will start over from the beginning.

If I understand correctly

If I get married now (meaning before landing) I would need to submit my documents back and my application gets rolled back and starts afresh

The best option would be to fist land in Canada, get PR card after 2-3 months, then either

1: Come back to my home country get married and apply a TRV for my from Canada and apply for PR via EE
2 :Come back to my home country get married and apply and sponsor my wife for PR
3: She can apply for a visitor VISA and comes to Canada and then I get married so she can have work permit while she awaits for PR

I wont this process to be as minimal as possible

No, your application does not go back to the beginning. It adds a few months while IRCC processes your spouse.

Your wife would not qualify for a work permit just for being the spouse of a PR and she would have a low chance of being approved for a TRV because you would be considered a strong tie in Canada.

I am in a similar situation but I did not receive my PPR yet. My Fiance is a Canadian permanent resident but is currently residing outside Canada (in my country of origin).

How would this be different in my case if it may be?

You just need to update IRCC with the marriage certificate and proof of your spouse's PR status.

So that means that when I go to my country of origin for landing (whenever or if my PPR comes) and I get married (likely but not certain), I can come back to Canada and just update IRCC, without having to go with resubmitting the CoPR, or potential application delays which adding a spouse ? is that correct ?

Hi Guys,

I want to know if one can marry even after the CoPR and add his/her spouse to the application and get the PPR for both before landing. In my case it is possible that I may get married after PPR/CoPR. I donot want to go through the pain of family sponsorship, which is long and has many conditions.
Please reply.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi canuck_in_uk,

Per your previous posts I understand that I can add my wife after PPR and even after after CoPR also. Please confirm. Is there any link the CIC website which confirms this, so that I do not get stranded when I am actually adding my spouse after PPR/CoPR?.

Thanks and Regards,

Guys,

I had received my COPR, issued on Dec 1. I got married on Dec 22, which was pre planned. I had contacted the IRCC for inclusion of my spouse on Dec 26. I just received one email saying the concerned department will contact you. I am clueless as to how to proceed with this now.or what to do. My COPR expires in July 14 2018. I understand my current copr stands invalid.
Please help.
