My application has passed its normal processing time and is going under additional background checks, does anybody have any idea that how much time does additional background checks take ?

its been 7 months since i submitted my application.

security screening is a sub activity of normal security check. you will find if you have been selected for your security screening in your admissibilities section of notes. You can also find out in activities.

GCMS notes takes like a month to get .. should i order them ? or just wait it out ...!! like if the security check can be cleared in a month then why order GCMS notes

It's up to you. Security screening takes much longer and you can use gcms to check if you have been selected for screening.

i have seen cases on this forum where security screening alone took 6 months or more. many of these went beyond a year.

Makes sense, I just started my 8th month, Background check and security been ongoing since Novemeber 23rd, and security screening don't know since when but probably January.
