Hi All - I need to get Work Experience Letter from my current company but i don't want to give them the reason as "Canadian Immigration" as it would not be ideal incase the immigration doesn't work out. Looking for alternative reasons i can give my HR & Manager to get the work experience letter.

Trump is the best excuse and in fact it's reality... Just tell them that you may want a back up plan just in case he comes up with some crazy green card policy. I am assuming that you are on H1b. And you are prepping for Canada Visa so that even if you don't have visa, you can work for the company remotely from Canada and may help them develop team or business there.

Thanks! But the whole objective is to not tell them about immigration option. My firm has business in canada but its a completely separate entity. So cos of tax/payroll issues, working from canada is not allowed.
I think this might help others though...thanks!

Honestly, I feel if your supervisor is a little understanding, it shouldn't be a problem if you are able to tell him what your long term goals are.
I have seen one of my colleagues get the letter while he was working because he had told his supervisor upfront about his long-term plans about how he wanted to move out of my home country to a place where he could secure his and his family's future in a better way.
In the worst case, makeup something like, you don't intend to move there now but after 5-7 years. Even your manager is not sure if he would be hanging around in the firm for that long.

If it's a big firm you are working for, it's even less troublesome. My company had a separate department that looked into these things. So even fewer people knew about who is doing what.

PS: I got my reference letter addressed to the Canadian Immigration Department. I don't see how you can get such a letter without the issuers knowing how it will be used. Be frank and up front.

I am working in US on H1-B for last 7 years. My employer provides Employment Verification letter in standard format with just letter of joining, current position and salary information. I work at client location alone.

My manager in India is not willing to provide letter of job duties verification.

I do have my H1-B papers which have
1) Letter from HR to US Immigration with details of my duties/employment hours as well as job duties dated April-2016 for employment period 2016 to 2019.
2) I also have similar letters to US Immigration for previous period.
3) I do have my H1-B petitions
4) I also have letter from my Client describing my job-title / job duties and metioning my employer is responsible for my salary.

Will this work instead of a details Letter of Employment verification?

Please help.
