PHD research as work experience ?

Hi,

i will get my PHD this year and i have spent the previous 3 years in research within the university, i have also published two articles. can these 3 years be considered as work experience ? Thanks

The payement is more like a financial aid, it's monthly but small. The research and the study were done outside of canada.

I would be cautious about using it as work experience.

Will your advisor happy to issue you a letter stating that your payments are "salary" and consider it as payment to your work (research/teaching)? Also, did you pay tax on it?

Yes, the advisor can issue this letter, however as the amount is small, it's exempt from taxes.

Have your experience considered by CIC. also were you enrolled as student or Employee
