Dear all,

I'll be applying for express entry and have following questions, could anyone of you please suggest me a solution?

1.) I have 3 years of experience but my firm where I worked for 1.5yrs was acquired by another firm, how should I prepare the job letter?

2.) My passport has incorrect place of birth (date of birth is correct) and do I need to get it corrected ?

3.) At what minimum CRS score should I apply for express entry? on average how much score is required to get a direct ITA? I've 3+ years of exp + masters + <30yrs age.

Any suggestions/help is much appreciated!

Regards,

You can get the letters on current organization letterhead and explain in LOE that your ex-firm was acquired by this firm and hence the change.

2.) My passport has incorrect place of birth (date of birth is correct) and do I need to get it corrected ?

Ideally, yes you should get it corrected. As there are chances that correct place of birth might be reflected on PCC (though depends on whether you get it from Police or PSK)

3.) At what minimum CRS score should I apply for express entry? on average how much score is required to get a direct ITA? I've 3+ years of exp + masters + <30yrs age.

It depends on your IELTS score too... but from eligibility point of view, you seem eligible. however, you may like check the following links:

CRS - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Any suggestions/help is much appreciated!

1. Can you get a notarized letter from a colleague or former superviser that verifies your experience? If not, you do not necessarily need to claim points for that experience. The minimum criteria specify you need only 12 months of full time work experience. In this case, the reference letter from your current firm for the last 1.5 years is sufficient.

2. You should probably have your passport corrected. Not important for the express entry profile, you can always update later. If you get an ITA, then you have 90 days to submit an application, so that should be enough time to get a new passport. Be sure to do this before you get a medical exam because your medical exam is linked with the exact details of your passport.

3. You will need CRS above 410 to get ITA. With the details you provided, this should be quite easy for you. Language scores are a big factor in the score though, so spend some time studying and practicing because this is the easiest and fastest way to improve your score.

Good luck!

You're welcome! you should keep in mind that work experience is calculated as whole years. So 1.5 is 1 year experience, 2.5 is 2 years. Consider this when you think about whether to get the evidence and support to get another year of work experience.

Also, get your language results first before making this decision as you likely wont need more than 1 year to get ITA. It will also add more trouble to the VO assessing your application and could result in your application being delayed as they now have to verify more details/facts.

Oh really? I though 1.5 years + 1.5 years (current) experience would be fine. Thanks for this useful info, really appreciate that!

Also, I've a confusion about getting a reference letter from current employer, all the companies in which I've worked are big firms and they doesn't provide ref letter based on what we actually need, they have their own formats and therefore, I'm worries what to do no? since I wont't be able to get even one perfect ref letter from my employers. Any advice?

Get as much of the details as possible in the letter. Usually, duties are the challenging part. Can you get your supervisor to write a letter on your behalf or a co worker to support the duties? This is a common issue and can also be explained in LOE.
