I have more questions as we prepare to send off the application. 1) Do the photocopies of the documents need to be certified. The instructions are confusing. They are all in English. 2) Will the pictures be returned? 3) Appendix B suggests needing criminal record check from any country lived in for more than 6 months from the age of 18. My husband spent 4 years in Germany when he was 18-22. He is now 41. Do we need to apply for a criminal record check from Germany too? 4) When do I apply for the U.K criminal record check?

Starting to get confused as I have been over the documentation so many times now. Thanks in advance for advice and help.

1) Photocopies of original documents do not need to be certified. However, translations of documents should be certified.
2) I have no idea. Sorry. I myself am sending in my application folder next week.
3)Yes. He will need a police clearance certificate from Germany since he lived there for more than 6 months when he was 18 years or older.
3) Sorry, can't help since I'm not from the UK. Although it doesn't hurt to start it soon even if you haven't turned in your application. Here in the US, the average time to get the FBI clearance letter is 120-140 weeks.

We never enrolled! We have lawyers! So I don't know anything about it really :( I just know some people who thought it came automatically so I thought I would share just in case!

Hi!
Quick question:
I am an international student in Canada, and I'm about to apply for PR through common-law. I've been living together with my girlfriend for about a year and a half. My parents have invited me to go on vacation with them to the US for two weeks during my summer holiday from college. I have a valid Study Permit and Visitor Visa, which won't expire for years. However, I hear it's still not advisable to travel because they might deny you entry if you're processing the PR. I really want to go on this vacation, since I haven't seen my parents in a while. Do you think they might deny me entry back into Canada, if it's just for 2 weeks?
Thank you!
Hi. if you have a valid multiple entry visa then you will be fine. I went to the Philippines for 5 weeks and came back to canada with about 6 months left on my student permit and visa. they didn't ask any questions. however, i didn't file my pr app at that time yet. i'm positive the rule that you cannot travel outside canada only applies to the people without valid trvs or those on implied status.

Hey guys!

So I am getting ready to head to Canada in a few months to get married to my partner of two years! Last year I had lived with them for about four months as I tried to find an employer willing to sponsor and fill out an LMIA. I ended up having to return to the states while I continue to search for a job up there that would sponsor me. About four months ago we decided that we hated being apart and that, since our relationship was heading that way anyway that we would get married this summer. I am so excited and nervous at the same time because of the application process. I've posted some questions on here before but I thought I might ask a few more since the time is coming closer.

1) Because I am applying inland and will be sending in a work permit along with my application, does anyone know if the open work permit is a fairly guaranteed approval? While I have been working hard to save money while my fiance has been working hard to pay rent and bills, I know that without my income for longer than 5 months or so we will be in a real bind financially. But if I have a work permit, my current job will let me transfer up there.

2) Is there anything that I can start now that will help us later on with the application process? I already have texts and pictures and even a letter from a close friend to help prove the validity of our relationship. Is there anything else I can start on? Is the medical exam something that I can do while I am still in the states?

I have so many questions but of course as I sit down to type them out they all leave me... If Anyone here has any experience with applying for spousal sponsorship with an inland application that happens to be from the USA and would like to give me advice, please feel free to message me. I would love to talk to someone!

1. OWP is typically issued within 1 month to 4 months.

2. Just wait for the medical request.

Hey,

my IEC will expire in one month so I am applying for a visitor visa. IMM5708 application asks about my marital status. My boyfriend and I will become common-law on 1st of July.
Should I put single because we are not common law yet ? Maybe someone had a case like this.

Hey guys,
In the IMM 0008 form (General Application Form for Canada), under Language Detail (page 3) they ask "Have you taken a test from a designated testing agency to assess your proficiency in English or French?"

I took the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) a decade ago when I was applying to universities for my Bachelor's degree. I even have the scoresheet. Is TOEFL considered an acceptable "test from a designated testing agency to assess your proficiency in English" when it comes to Canadian immigration? Or should I just tick "No" instead?
