Co-op/inern work permit query - how to apply ?

Hi all,

I am starting a veterinary intership at the end of june. i already have my study permit but i have to apply for a co-op/intern work permit and i am not sure how to do this online. That option is only being shown if i say that i am in Canada during the eligibility test. I submitted a work permit application for made from outside of canada. I am from Barbados. On the form chose an lmia- exempt type work permit and listed all the info like my employment offer umber and lmia assessment etc, as well as a letter of explaination. I not sure if i applied for this the right way.

I was told i can i could apply for the work permit at the point of entry into canda but this increases the processing times. Any one know if i applied online correctly. Not sure what i should do at this point. i submitted the application about 9 days ago. How long would it take online on avg? Can one go to canada without the work permit approval and just the study permit and until the work permit is approved?

I have not started school as yet. The program begins on june 26th. I have all my acceptance letters, lmia docs, contracts, letter from the dean. I submitted all of these with the work permit application and attached a letter of explanation. I am also not in Canada. I am in Barbados and made the application online from there.

you could/should have waited to start school before applying for the co-op/internship work permit from here. the school/faculty will give out letters outlining your program having an internship component. then together with your academic record/transcript apply for it. it takes about a month and a half to apply online.

The school said i could apply online before i relocated and did send my the supporting documents i would need from their end. They also said i could apply at the point of entry. So i applied online, but, was not sure if i did the right thing. Are processing times faster if you apply when you get to canada? I am not sure if i will get it in time to begin the program. a little worried at this point. i have travel plans to canada set for the 12th
