Hi Experts,

Need your advise on the following please.

I received an ITA under Canadian Experience Class on May 17, 2017. I showed one year of full time job when I created my profile to be placed in the pool of candidates. Now I am confused, since I started working full time on May 1, 2016 and still working to date for the same employer. I received PGWP on June 23, 2016 however, I received a letter from my business school stating that I have completed my degree requirements on May 3, 2016 and I applied for PGWP on May 29, 2016.

I am wondering if my job experience time from finishing the degree requirement(may 3, 2016) to actually getting the PGWP(june 23, 2016) will count towards my CEC job experience?

I will highly appreciate if someone can answer my question.

Thank you.

Yes, it will be counted. To be safe, count the day after you were conferred your degree (May 4) as day 1.

thank you starlettedouze

I was conferred the degree in June 2016. On May 3rd, 2016 I was only given the letter that I have completed the degree requirements. is that letter enough to prove that my experience will counted?

if yes, should I include this in the LOE? also I applied for PGWP on May 29, 2016. can I start counting my experience from May 4th?

Yup, that letter should suffice and best to include it in your LOE. I did the same thing with my application - my letter said I completed my degree on December 14 and I started counting my experience since the 15th. My PGWP was granted on June of the following year. I highlighted this in my LOE too.

If you read other threads, a lot of people have been successful by claiming experience during the period between finishing school and receiving PGWP. I am yet to receive my PPR but hopefully will get it soon :)

All the best!

Thank you again for your prompt replies sir

so when you actually apply for PGWP doesn't matter, it's when you get the letter from the school stating you have completed the degree requirements only matter, correct?

regards!

Yup. International students have a 90-day transition period wherein you need to apply for PGWP and work experience during this time can be counted when calculating for CEC.

Hi!

I graduated in April 2016 and got my PGWP in May 2016. I started working for my company in July 2016 and have been here ever since.
Based on your experience, if fill my profile in July 2016 for CEC, will I likely receive an ITA? Should I apply for a PGP?

I don't want to involve my current employer because Im planning on moving to another city within the province and I don't want to work in the area anymore (the area where I originally got my PGWP for) --- which was Administrative Assistant. I want to be a full-time personal trainer... so that is why I don't want to get sponsored.

If I get an ITA, and if I get a PR, will I be able to work anywhere or do I HAVE to keep working in my field?

My work visa expires in November 2017. Should I apply for a work visa just to be safe? I don't know how it works, since I have a PGWP!

Hopefully someone can help!

You need to complete one year of work experience which will be on July in order to qualify for the CEC stream. I don't think you will get an ITA with less than a year. Your Express Entry profile might even be deemed ineligible.

I suggest waiting until you complete one year before applying so you won't have any issues.

Your PGWP is considered as open work permit, meaning you can work for any employer. Same when you get your PR.

If you have filed an application by the time your PGWP expires in November and you're still waiting for a decision, you can apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) and continue working until you hear back re your PR application.
