You must work for an alberta employer. Your temp geographical locations doesn't matter.Hello Team,
This is my 18th month for the PR file. Stuck in security screening ofcourse. Contacted MP, CIC, case specific inquiry, MLA, GCM notes, with no help at all.
The reason why i contacted all the above is the following.
My current job includes traveling to other provinces. In other words, my office is in Edmonton but my area includes more than Alberta. I travel on little projects here and there.
My work permit expired, CIC sent me a new bridging work permit that is Alberta specific, the HR of the company i work at questioned that line, i connected with CIC, they said they have no documentation and i should take it to the province though it is a CIC document. Took it to the province (MLA), they said yes i can not travel on projects here and there.
What a joke ! I will loose my job very soon because of this !
That is not true. When you apple for a BWOP, they issue you a province specific one. Which means you can work in that province only. In my scenario, my office is in the province but i handle projects in other provinces sometimes.CIC issues either open or closed work permit. If you have a closed work permit it means you can only work with your current employer and it doesn't mean that you can't travel. You can travel if you still working with the same company.
Try getting that in writing from CIC or from your MLA. Good luck !You must work for an alberta employer. Your temp geographical locations doesn't matter.
I work for a big national corporation that has legal department. You can not tell them no one cares ! or that do not worry everything will be fine lol..alberto I don't understand y r u making ru life complicated .The thumb rule is as long as u work for alberta employer whose office in alberta then are considered an employee in alberta .When u check ur pay stubs u pay provincial and federal tax .You need not to ask silly questions to mp and making ur life complicated .Tell ur hr as ur working for alberta employer and ur pay roll is coming out in alberta ur good . Nobody cares if u go to any province for short projects .As long as u pay tax in alberta .You are fine
do you work for tc?I work for a big national corporation that has legal department. You can not tell them no one cares ! or that do not worry everything will be fine lol..
The legal department advised against keeping me with the new work permit when HR raised the issue.
I tried getting what you said in writing from CIC / MP / MLA, to prove that the legal department's take is not accurate. No Luck !
I wish i work for a small company around the corner where i can tell them do not worry, things will be fine lol
BOWP is an open work permit and IRCC issues this permit if you do not have any restriction of employment. If under the condition section of your permit didn't mention that you can only work in Alberta, you can work any where in Canada ( just check the conditions not remark section). Your employer HR and legal department can't add condition to your permit unless you have it under the work permit condition section. I haven't heard of province specific permit at all. That is not true. When you apple for a BWOP, they issue you a province specific one. Which means you can work in that province only. It is mentioned under condition specific. So yes it is open work permit, you can work for any employer, but it is province specific.BOWP is an open work permit and IRCC issues this permit if you do not have any restriction of employment.
