Not exactly. All PR applications are mailed to Mississauga. Visitor visa applications go to the specified VO for her country paper applications, or you can submit it online.

Your wife can apply for a TRV while the PR app is processing. However, unless she can show significant ties to her home country, chances of approval are low.

Hi,
Same boat I think. We are in the process of putting our application together. I, the principal applicant, would like to stay in Canada as a visitor while awaiting approval. Is the chance of that able to happen really that low? I would have a planeticket back, etc.

Your post is unclear. Are you already in Canada? If not, where are you from?

Oh, sorry about that. I am Belgian, currently living in Belgium. So I would not have to apply for a visa, just an eTa.

As long as you have enough funds and insurance for the time you want to be there as a visitor you shouldnt have a problem

Hi, I got a question about this too. I live in Canada and I already submitted our off-shore spouse application last april 6 and she already got a canadian visitor visa. Can she just stay with me in Canada while the papers are processing? Also she is 13-week pregnant, I am worried and I want to be by her side every step of the way. this our first born.

Yes, she can stay. She needs to maintain her visitor status.

However, depending on your province,it's possible she won't be able to access provincial healthcare until after becoming a PR, which means you would have to pay health expenses until then.

Thank you for answering. I live in BC, will she be able to access our health care? Also, will I be able to make her as a dependant with my benefits at work?

Yes, she could be covered at some point. There are a few threads about BC MSP on the forum. http://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/health/health-drug-coverage/medical-services-plan/bc-residents/eligibility-and-enrolment/are-you-eligible/covering-a-spouse-or-child-who-is-an-applicant-for-permanent-resident-status-in-canada.pdf

Employer extended benefits generally require provincial coverage first.
