Guys, one small question - I had scheduled my medical exam tomorrow at 4pm.

However, I drank about 40ml of alcohol 24 hours back.

Should I postpone my test to weekend what do you think?

There is nothing to worry about as far as the exam goes. None of the tests they do depend on alcohol consumption. But again, if you are tripping all over the place hung over, then it might be a good idea to postpone :)

Ideally, there should be no intake of alcohol atleast 72 hours prior to the medical test. 40ml, 24 hours back should not be a cause of worry, but I recommend you drink lots of water to get all traces of alcohol out of your system, and stay hydrated, and stay relaxed.

Thanks, So I assume its safe to go ahead with the test since the by the time of test it would be 40 hours since alcohol consumption.

As a part of exam, do they ask the question - "Do you drink alcohol?" , and is this a standard question ? and if yes, can I answer NO?

Also, apart from passport do they also need my passport size photos at the medical exam?

How come is that water gets all traces of alcohol out of the body?:p

Yes, you'll need passport size copies of you photo.
Each clinic has its own requirement. Some ask for 4 copies, others need 5 copies.
Make sure to check this with your clinic.

Why would you want to do that? It is a medical test not a morality exam.

It makes you pee a lot, thereby 'flushing' your system.
NOTE: the above is my poor attempt at wordplay, please don't take it as medical advise. Alcohol cannot be removed from the system in this way.

Well, I haven't heard in my 12 years of medical career that water flushes out alcohol from body.
People advise to take plenty of water after alcohol consumption because of the following reason.

Alcohol acts like a diuretic (a diuretic means substance which makes water from body to be excreted more in urine).
So, when one consumes plenty of alcohol, he is in danger of losing much amount of water from body and undesired consequences.
Hence, it's advisable to drink water to avoid dehydration.

Water has nothing to do with 'Flushing' the alcohol out of body. It's a pure myth.
I think, one should be having enough knowledge about what he is suggesting others, especially when a serious matter such as immigration is concerned.

You clearly know what you are talking about and I am guilty in believing a myth. Apologies for passing on factually incorrect information which I thought was true. I have updated my post.

That's why I advised you should first contact your concerned clinic. They will guide you in each matter.
As far as the matter of size of photo is concerned, it's required for the purpose of uploading the digital copy in e-APR and for PR cards (of course once you land there).
But, for the clinics medical purpose, they don't have this rigid requirement for photos.

All in all, just confirm with your clinic about document requirement.

I guess that is the reason I feel thirsty like hell all night after drinking alcohol. I also get kind of a burning sensation inside and outside which again makes me drink lot of water. It's worse with hard drinks. Thats why i usually go with b33r in summers.

They ask if you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, not if you had a drink a day or so before! It's no problem AT ALL!
