Also, take note of the combination you have use. Like for me,
1st try : I had Manila in City of birth with 2 in number of family members
2nd try : I had the same Manila for City of birth with and change it to 3
3rd try : I had (1 space) for City of Birth and 2 in number of family members
4th try : I had (1 space) for City of Birth and 3 in number of family members
then it went through.

hope it works for you..

good luck and let them know what works for future reference
Thanks for the tips! I'll try again tomorrow.
I thought I had to fill out all of the available fields so I'll try leaving out the passport details too.
It's insane that it's so finicky

Hi Guys,
After a long wait my application is returned for the reason of "missing/incomplete birth certificate" But the thing is we have included birth certificated which is translated and notarized. This is absolutely ridiculous and now I don't know what to do/ what I did wrong. There are no extra notes/ nothing to explain. How can they claim a document that is there as missing?

Hi, sorry to hear that. I would advise you to photocopy the original as well and try to call them and explain that the documents were actually in the package and if you should send an explanation through webform with all four copies attached.

Did you submit affidavit from the person who translated the document. Please check the specified format for non-English documents.

Don't be discouraged! I had sent my Application in Feb 2017 and it was returned to me unprocessed because my husband's PR photo didn't meet the requirements (India and their unprofessional photographers), After receiving the proper PR photos; our representative informed us that one of the forms was updated in March; so we had to fill out and sign new forms. We were finally able to send it in April and we got a application number in May.

In regards to the birth certificate, my husband couldn't find his original birth certificate so he had to get a new one in the city he was born in (Chandigarh), I would highly suggest for your spouse to go to the city he/she was born to get a new one or if travel is not possible; to contact the birth certificate centre to obtain a new one! Also make sure your forms are all updated before you send your application again! The 1-2 week delay is better than a whole month wasted and getting back a returned unprocessed application!

Birth certificate is issued only once. So did your husband got the copy of the original certificate from the authority or did he apply fresh. If it's fresh then one has to meet other India specific requirement like original voter card and old school records apart from supplementary travel info. to be included with the application.

Hi,

I sent the letter, the highlighted checklist as well as a new checklist plus all the previous documents (and new ones). My tracked package ended up costing me a bit more than my initial package but I felt like it was important to send their correspondence back to them to "prove" I corrected the highlight mistake and that everything else was in order, but I don't think it matters too much whether you send it or not.

I think it was just a copy of the original but he had to provide proof such as, his parents information and old school records; which he had and was able to provide.
