I recently applied for my Canadian passport through Service Canada and was told to wait one month to receive it. I was concerned about receiving it in the mail, does passport service send a fully tracked package with the passport in it and does it request for signature when I receive it?

If some one has done this recently, please respond. Thanks

for that I am not sure ,,,, I am telling you what I knew from the experience that I had when I was making my son passport ,, he is young so he did not sign the passport itself ,, and we paid extra to pick up the passport from Canadian passport services

Yes, you will need to sign with Canada Post to receive your lettermail. If you have community box it will not be delivered to your home or mailbox, you will need to go to the post office that is indicated on notice (typically the closest PO), sign and pick the mail up.

Thank you that is exactly what I wanted to know as I don't trust my postman. I have had packages lost where I live, so I really wanted it to be tracked with signature required.

Couple weeks ago an embassy sent me my kids' passports with visas. Even though I paid for signature option they left the lettermail with two passports in the community mailbox. So, having signature option will not help you if your mailman is reckless.

What can I even do ? Atleast I can hold canadapost/ passport service accountable if it is tracked w/signature option required and it is missing

Their accountability is limited to $100 compensation if mail is lost - not sure how this works if the sender is not you. And cost of mail (around $20) if it's left in mailbox.
