Families with children under age six will receive an annual tax-free benefit of UP TO $6,400 per child. Those with children between the ages of six and 17 will receive up to $5,400 annually. Households with children with annual income below $30,000 will receive the maximum payment.

The new program, coming into effect July 1, rolls three former benefit plans introduced by the Conservatives, including the Universal Child Care Benefit and the income-splitting scheme for two-parent households, into a single monthly payment.
Families can receive "up to $6400", depending on income. The higher the income, the less the benefit. Seriously, take 30 seconds to do some research.

Again, totally wrong. As I already stated and as clearly explained on the CRA website, the benefit amount will be based on their previous income in their home country. Stop providing bad advice.

There are forms that need to be filled out to apply for benefits, including an income declaration. Either your friend had little or no income in his home country in 2015 and qualified for a higher amount or, most likely, he lied and is committing fraud. Great way for him to start off in Canada...

You mentioned the word EITHER , which means you are guessing ! No need to be rude , you do not know his friend to judge him !!!

So, if we land in Jun-2018 - Then we have to show the income of 2017?
I worked in Middle east - so do i need to show that income? - how do I give proof of my previous year income ?
Also, I have investment as FD in India - does that interest earned - qualified as income?

Is there any timeline as to when we can avail this benefit. Can we file for it once we land. It will surely be very helpful especially during our first year in Canada.

I agree with you. People don't do their research at all. There have been multiple cases on this forum where people have been providing absolutely false advice to people. I am sure there has to be a reasoning backing the amount you claim. It's not like those who are claiming it have posted here but only prospective claimers. I don't know if his friend is committing a fraud or not. If he is, I hope he gets caught asap !

If the Canadian Government set up such an elaborate process of immigration, you think that they would not have criteria's to claim the amount !? Of course, there will be documents and forms to fill out ! There is no doubt about that and there has to be some financial link.

Yes you need to show international income. Have you looked at the application forms?

You will need to show your FULL worldwide income.
