Dear All

Following situation:

Received ITA for permanent residence recently.
Made medical exams for me, my wife, and my son last Friday.
We did not receive the IMM 1017B form by the clinic, as requested in the online application, but an "eMedical Information Sheet", which we were told to scan and upload. It contains an UMI code.
My wife is pregnant (expected date of birth 5 November 2017) and could not do the X-ray.
My wife received a "pregnancy deferral letter", stating that she "needs to complete the X-ray before the health case can be finalised and the processing of the permit application can continue".
Except the X-ray, all other documents are nearly complete and can be uploaded end of April.

Now, I have some questions, rather for clarifying:

[] Is the eMedical Information sufficient, or should I keep on demanding an IMM 1017B form?

[] Will the pregnancy / missing X-ray delay the viewing of my application until November? Or will the visa officers view the rest of the documents, and then just wait for that one X-ray, and decide like the next day?
… I guess what I'm asking is:
end of April + 6 months processing time (as per CIC homepage processing times)
OR
end of November + 6 months processing time

Thank you

X-ray is not recommended for the first 3 months of pregnancy. After that the clinic gives an apron which can be used. You can either get your wife to wear the apron and proceed with the medical and the whole application or you can do it after delivery and processing your application will start thereafter. You would need funds for the newborn child as well.

what would happen till the time you submit xray report + medicals + PoF updated+ PP for new born ?? lets assume he submits in april itself.

the application would be on hold or something ?

Application will be put on hold until your wife completes her medical. They will start processing once they receive her medicals

Okay, thanks, we'll think about the apron-option, but probably just wait until after birth. Anyway I'm finding conflicting information regarding the processing times, which seems to be somewhere between 2 to 6 months after submitting.

What do you think about the IMM 1017B form? Do we need it, or is the eMedical Information Sheet with UMI code sufficient?

UMI means unique medical id which is generated by emedical. This is what my clinic told me when I went for upfront medical. I didn't need to quite any umi for anything.

Processing time is based on individual circumstances. CIC aims to process all applications within 6 months. Some take longer than that.

xpressentry, you're being generously helpful, thank you!
So, the CIC didn't' ask you for the IMM 1017B form either?
The additional funds are clear. I wonder if they will ask for digital photo and medical exam of the newborn though.

If your panel physician has emedical then they will click your photo. If they dont use emedical, you will have to take photos.

CIC didnt ask for IMM1017B. I dont even know what that form is. I tried to look it up online and the form does not open.

Hello All,

My wife is the principal applicant and she is pregnant. If she does the medical without x-ray and completed her medical after child birth what would be the expiration date of the visa being issued?

Would it be a year after the date which she started the 1st medical without x-ray or would be a year after the medical was completed?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Visa wont be issued. Processing will begin once her full medical is complete.

So you are saying that the visa would expire 1 year after she completes the medical (after she gives birth)?

yes. she can do xray before birth with an apron if she wishes to.

If she does the x-ray before giving birth wouldn't that be a problem since the child will not be included in the PR application? Wouldn't it be better to wait until the child is born then include the child in the PR application?

if your wife does her medical during pregnancy, they will begin to process her application. a newborn does not need PCC. I dont think a new born needs medical either. so you just have to pay the additional fee for the newborn. it will save time.
