hi
The CIC website states that
Indian PCC should be from district Police Station.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp
However I see everyone is getting it via PSK (passport office)
why so?
did someone get the police clearance certificate from Police station, and it was all ok ?

thanks

PSK provides PCC in a format which is very much accepted by IRCC.
You may get the PCC from PSK anytime between 5 minutes, 2 hours to 7 days, depending on your case.

If the address is same on the passport and the aadhar card; you will get PCC on the same day.

If the address is different, the PSK sends it to the Police department for verification, which delays the PCC.

unfortunately based on some recent rule by MEA, if your passport address and current address are different, then you will have reapply for a new passport.
Yes you hear me right, NEW PASSPORT, this is so ridiculous.
I spoke with APO Pune RPO, and she said this is new govt circular from end of Dec.
Still I see that some RPOs are issuing PCC even if the address is different.
God knows, how they function.

getting from Police station is my hope. will try that.
else will apply for new passport.

Thanks

Even though it has been mentioned that you can apply for PCC from District Police Station, the PCCs issued from these places specifically covers the clearance for the applicant's stay in that region only. In India, if the applicant has stayed at the same address or in the same city for their entire duration in India, then the applicant can go ahead with the PCC issued from local SP Office or District Police Station.

On the other hand, if the applicant has stayed in different cities in India, then the best would be to get PCC from PSK. PCC issued by PSK is applicable for the applicant's entire stay in India as it does not mention any address of the applicant.

Hi Stanlee,
I have a similar case. I have been staying in rented accommodation in Delhi for around 8 years (same society but different apartments). Prior to that I was in Gurgaon but don't have the rent agreements for that duration.

So do I need PCC from both Gurgaon and Delhi or only Delhi PCC would be sufficient.
Further as you suggested, if done through PSK it doesn't mention the address so is it recommended that I should apply through PSK for the entire duration?

Thanks !!

Hi Stanlee,

I recently got my PCC from Local district police station and I have stayed at the same address in same city since turning 18. I turned 18 in feb 2008 and the pcc has me covered from feb 2008 to current. Will this be enough for CIC or do I need PCC from PSK. I don't have more than 14 days left now to submit my application. Can you please advice If I will be ok or not. Cheers

Hello members,

I have doubt regarding the PCC from india. What I can see in the check list is we need to get PCC for last 10 years wherever we have stayed fro more than 6 months. Does it mean we need to take multiple PCC from all the places we have stayed or only the one with latest address is sufficient. My problem is I had stayed in in almost 4 locations in the last 10 years which are in different states of india. Someone please clarify.

If you have stayed only in India in the last 10 years, then PCC from PSK would suffice, irrespective of which and how many states you have lived in.

Just one PCC from PSK is enough. PSK will also stamp the passport indicating a PCC has been issued to you.
