Can Passport number change in between the Express entry profile

Hi ,
I need to add spouse name in my wife's passport,so I have to request for re-issue of passport of her.
Obviously the passport number will change from what we have entered in Express entry profile.

Will this new passport number cause problem .Will they give visa on old passport??


Also,How will we give details of new born .Do they also need passport while applying?

Upon reissue the old passport will be cancelled and so no question of giving you visa on the old passport. You should be able to change your passport details. For your child while adding him/her to your profile there's a question asked like : "Does he/she hold a valid travel document" or something like this, I don't exactly remember. In there you have to select the right option. It is always expected that you have the child's passport soon after birth.

We have already submitted our documents to CIC but now due to reissue of the passport her passport number will get changed. So how should we contact CIC for this issue? Do we need to inform them on the same ?

Can anyone pls help us on the above problem, it's really urgent.thanks.

You can intimate CIC about the passport renewal by raising a CSE. Check this link to see instructions on how to proceed with the same.

I am assuming you have applied under Express Entry, in that case you can select Express Entry from the dropdown for 'Type of Application'. Submit a Letter of Explanation (LOE) also for the same along with the copy of your wife's new passport. In the LOE, clearly state why you are getting the passport reissued/renewed now and why it was not done earlier.

I am facing a unique issue. I applied under express entry and while submitting the PR application, I mistakenly entered old passport details of my wife.(her passport was renewed and her medical and ielts were done as per her new passport).we submitted her new passport later by the link provided on website and they replied as well that they have reviewed it. I dont know what else can be done . All i could do is to provide her latest passport. what can be the consequence in this condition. has anybody encountered the same scenario?what was the end result. I am becoming insomniac because of this

No issue at all. When i started EE , my spouse had different passport and it changed after my addition . Even my wife's IELTS was on old passport.
We got PR without single question asked.

Just explain it clearly in the LOE. And dont forget to attach the front nad back page of old passport with the new one.

I am just creating my EE profile, but i have a doubt in the personal section for the spouse....no where asking the passport details of the spouse to enter, only the principal applicant...please help me is this normal in the profile creation time....or else please let me know where can i update the passport details for the spouse...

You will need to add spouses passport detials after you got ITA. For EE creation , only yours are required.

Once you recieve ITA , there will be a new column of permanent residence in your Mycic home page. You will clik on it and then enter all in depth details of accompanying family members.

Hi harman. My ques is if we dont change passport for my wife. Let her old passport in ee profile. Will that matter?
She is the.prime applicant.

Is it not possible to get PR without changing ur wife's passport???

Why did u require to change your wife's passport and ur name on it???
If i want to use old passport of my wife without my name wont that be possible?

Why did u need to add ur name on ur wife's passport?
Couldnt u apply with her old passport?
