Hi all,

Are there any requirements for scan quality of supporting documents? As far as I know, the only requirement is for each file to be 4 MB or less.

Some of my scans are at 100 dpi in order to fit in 4 MB. The quality is not ideal, but it's readable.
Any thoughts on what is the recommended scan quality?

There's no requirement for scan specifications. As long as the file size limit is 4MB per upload.
You can try zoom in-out, if the file is clear you should be ok.

If you ask IT guys they'll say anything around 300dpi should be good enough. In case the file size exceeds use any of the public PDF reduction webites available in plenty.

I think it does somewhere on CIC website...but does it matter? Irrespective of whether does or not, if the page does not allow you to upload any file >4mB isn't that proof of the pudding?

Yes, it is mentioned on IRCC website -
a) File size to be less than 4MB
b) And for resolution, you can go down up to 96DPI (dots per inch) provided that it is readable.

You may refer the following to substantiate my claim -

Dpis are kind of irrelevant, you can have a 99999 dpi document looks fuzzy enough and unreadable. As long as the text are well readable, you should be okay. For sure, you want to keep the DPI at least at 96 which is the common DPI in among windows systems.

Use the DPI as high as possible and make sure the file size does not exceed their limit.

I would suggest you to care less about the specs but more about the actual quality.
