Hi all,

I have a question regarding work experience on my express entry profile.
When I put in my work history on profile, it asks me to put only the year and month that I started my current job.
So even if I started on March 30, 2014, will my points for work experience go up as of March, 1 2016 because the system has only month and year which is March, 2014?
If so, in case I stopped working as of March 5, 2016, for example, will CIC still consider it as 2 years because the system granted points for it?
I wonder it will be a problem when I prove it.

Any advice will be much appreciated!!
Thank you!!

I'm attempting answering this question because no one else has.

Look at Asivad's reply here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/claiming-crs-points-for-reaching-2-years-of-work-experience-t322760.0.html

Yes, points for your work-ex will go up by March 1, 2016 but if you quit by Mar 5, 2016 and go unemployed and if you get an ITA on a draw on March, then you might have to reject that ITA and wait till you complete 104 weeks of employment.

The onus of proving that you have 12, 24 or 36 months of employment with documentation is upon you. So although the system might calculate for 36 months, and if you only have 35 months, there is a risk that the CIC officer might reject your application because he might recalculate CRS for 2 years of experience and that might make you ineligible in the draw that you got selected.

I spoke with a CIC call agent before regarding this issue and he told me that if the system gives you 2 years experience, even though you technically don't as you say, you should still be ok, because its what you enter in your express entry profile pre ITA that matters when it comes down to it...

Thank you for the info!

I actually just got an email from CIC that my ee profile was updated so I logged in to check it and found that my ee score was increased because they granted points for 2 years of exp when I actually didn't hit 2 years yet ! I started in the end of Feb, so I put 2014 Feb. I am not sure why the system already recognized it as 2 years.. so do you mean if I get ITA in January 2016, it would be fine even though my exact 2 years will be by the end of Feb 2016?? What would happen if I quit my job before the end of Feb but received an ITA already?

Thanks again and happy new year!

It has to be a minimum of 52 weeks at 30hrs per week (full-time). Any more than 30 hrs per week worked is still deemed as '30hrs per week' of full-time work.

“Full-time” means at least 30 hours of paid work in one week. One year of full-time work is at least 1560 hours.

It will be counted. Canadian work experience does not have to be continuous.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp

As of May 30, 2015, all valid Canadian work experience will be recognized under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of Express Entry as CIC is removing the requirement that Canadian work experience be continuous. As a result, foreign nationals with Canadian work experience could see an increase in their CRS points.

Hi Deep,
Please suggest on my query:-
1. I completed 2yrs 10months on date of EE profile submission. CRS calculated for 3yrs because of the month and year anomaly.
2. As on date of ITA profile submission I will have 2yrs 11months work experience in terms of days/weeks fulfillment.
Please suggest how will the CIC officers view this situation?
Thanks
