So, I got my police certificate from a middle eastern country where I stayed for more than 6 months.
They have misspelled my first name replacing an I with a U. My last name written properly. Do things like these make a big difference? I know for a fact if I go back and get this all re-done (long process as I am in Canada now), they will fix that mistake, but mess up 2 other things.

My spouse had the same issue (from a Middle East country)... Usually they do not actually correct the issue..
For him, there was a "u" instead of "a", and that's how it was on the residence visa.... he asked them to correct it several times, but they refused... and therefore the PCC was also issued under this incorrect spelling...
The problem is that the country govmnt officials don't really care (I guess as long as its correct in arabic)... but we wrote an LOE and he signed it.... just praying they accept it.... it has his photo on it.... so let's see... just submitted earlier this month so waiting to hear back.

I personally think a small mistake shouldn't cause a big issue, specially if the last name is the same. I can't even get a LOE signed from them as I am half the world and 2500$ flight away LOL.

Can anyone else shed some light on this? How important is the spelling of the name on the police certificate??

I understand that the LOE should be signed by the person whose name is incorrect... in my case my spouse signed it...

The FBI misspelled my name on the (IdHS), I've asked them to fix it but I think they want me to submit another set of prints (have emailed them to clarify)....it's my third time and they've rejected my prints twice...when they've finally accepted them (this time I got them done by a fingerprinting expert in Islamabad) the name has been misspelt

My name has been misspelled at the top of the IdHS, the address listed is my brother's (his name is correctly displayed) but only the last 4 digits of the SSN are displayed - will I be able to use this when needed? The error is they've used a G instead of a Q (WAGAR although my second name is WAQAR). I have my other rejection responses where my name was correctly spelled by the FBI, so I'm hoping to put them together and just use these documents to show that it really is my character check and not someone else's.

It's a hassle and a half to get oneself fingerprinted here, so I'd rather not go through this process again, plus it takes 3 months to get a result after the prints reach them IF they don't reject them again!

I know I am opening this thread after a long time... I have a very similar issue and I was wondering Syed, if Canada Immigration accepted your documents with the mis-spelt name?

Unfortunately, Abu Dhabi Immigration has mis-spelled my first name too with an A instead of an I. Reason being, my name on my visa was spelt this way. However, my name on the Emirates ID card is correct. I was informed that the Immigration will look at the Emirates ID card and not the visa to issue the PCC. Unfortunately, in my case it did not happen that way.

Let me know if there's a solution.
