First, let me explain my background. My wife is an internal medicine specialist/doctor in Cuba and we are currently in the spousal immigration process, but the goal is for her to become Canadian certified within a year of landing (hence a lot of joint studying). My brother-in-law landed just over a year ago, and is starting the parental immigration queuing. My father-in-law has poor health, so I've looked into the health restrictions extensively.

The basic criteria for medical exclusion is the cost of treatment and/or availability of medical resources. Stage 3 Kidney disease is treatable with diet, exercise, and medication. However, it will continue to progress, just at a different rate. Thus it's important to look at how quickly your father progressed to Stage 3 CKD and his current health regime.

From a gut feeling, would say with a good exercise, low blood pressure and glucose levels, and non-smoking lifestyle, at the very least you would have solid grounds for an appeal if a medical exclusion were given. You should try to speak to a Nephrologist about what they would estimate the 5 and 10 year treatment costs at if your father progressed rapidly to Stage 4 or 5.

Thanks very much Mapleson for your wonderful explanation, and this gives me hope that my mother might get through the medical process.
My mother is a 62 year old lady with never smoking and drinking habits, on a good diet and continuing on her High BP medication. She has been here almost two years on a TRV and has passed a medical in 2014. She has seen a nephrologist on April 17th and Panel Physician has uploaded the results on May 7th 2015.
I have read the Nephrologists comments, and there is no adverse comments, just said 'she likely to have stage -3 ' and can continue on her current medication.
He mentioned some of the terms, which I can not remember now, but all of them were negative( like she does not have any symptoms of....., her abdomen is non-tender, her pedal is normal, and so on and on.....)

I was just a bit worried why it has not been posted to the ECAS (medical results have been received?), since it will be almost two months?
but thanks again on your nice reply and your re-search and advise. have a wonderful day.

If you're still unsure you can order your GCMS notes and you can see if CIC officer deemed her medical as a 'pass'

Hi toronto30, have you heard anything from CIC? I have got into the same case. My father is referred to a nephrologyst. He has createnine of 1.72. Probably his eGFR is 36 according to the online eGFR calculator. I am going to take an appointment for the doctor but really not sure about the outcome.

hi there
the PP have uploaded the Nephrologists reports on May 7th and after that haven't heard anything. I called CIC last month and said, takes 1-3 months to update the medical.

I will let you know as soon as I hear something from CIC. thanks

Hi toronto30 and notsure70,

Were you able to have your parents medicals cleared with high createnine levels, and get super visa/ PR application approved. Do they also test urine routine test to find high protein in it? I am curious as my father has similar condition and considering applyin
