All,

My IELTS general training results just came out and sadly i missed an overall CLB 9 because of 6.5 in reading module.Grades in other modules are L - 8,W-7.5,S-8.

The worry is that i had expected my highest grade in Reading and thought to get 40 on 40.This makes me think of requesting a re-mark on Reading module alone.

Has anyone in this forum ever attempted re-mark and did it improve bands?.

Would appreciate your valuable inputs. Thanks.

If you were so confident on achieving full score in reading, I strongly suggest you to re-evaluate your reading module. They may charge a fee and if there is a revision in your marks, the fee is refunded.

HI,
if you are confident just go for it.
Just today, I got my IELTS reevaluated and got an improvement of 0.5 band in writing. Once you have a positive score they will refund you the reevaluation charges

Good Luck!!!!!

Hi Ajay1989/niravk,

Thank you for your words. I think i will go for it. Waiting for my report to arrive. But i haven't got enough information on how to request for it. Would you mind explaining it to me Ajay? It says to send report and request form to my examination centre, but how do we get the address of centre?. Exam was held in 2 hotels. Thanks.

Don't bother, you're wasting your money.

Writing and speaking evaluation is to some degree subjective because there are no fixed, "correct" answers. If you feel evaluated inappropriately in one or both of these categories, a re-evaluation may make sense.

But reading (or listening)? There is only a very narrow set of correct answers, and many questions are even multiple choice. If you ask for a re-evaluation of these, you are basically assuming that the evaluators made multiple mistakes in comparing your answers to an answer key. Very, very unlikely - especially given that two evaluators will check this independently from each other.

Invest your money in re-taking the test instead if you think it makes sense points-wise.
True. More likely, if you feel very sure your reading answers were correct, that you somehow skipped a line on the marking sheet and used the wrong lines. You might consider re-taking the test if you feel it would greatly improve your chances for an ITA.

HI Dreamcold,

Its true. Reading and listening may not fetch you more points. But in case you want to do reevaluation, here is what I did. I went to British council office and gave an application to reevaluate my writing part. i had to pay SGD 185 for the reevaluation and need to submit the original test report.
It took me around 7 weeks to get response from them and luckily I got a positive increase in the score.

I am in a similar situation and would love to know if you achieved success in a re-mark for reading. My scores are LRWS 8.5,6.5,7,7.5

I got an overall 6 bands with listening 7.5 Reading and writing both 6 and Speaking 5.Should i go fir revalution for speaking
Is Speaking is the only module due to which you are unable to get your required score in this test? If yes, then yes you should go for revaluation only if you are confident enough and sure that you didn't make enough mistakes to receive 5 band. Even with revaluation outcome coming positive (which is difficult), you should not expect 0.5-1 band increase.

I am in a similar situation and would love to know if you achieved success in a re-mark for reading. My scores are LRWS 8.5,6.5,7,7.5
It's highly unlikely that your score will increase in reading module. Answers of Listening and Reading module are not subjective and there is only one right answer. Had it been speaking or writing, you could take a chance as a different marker would have evaluated the exam in his/her own way without knowing your previous marks. But in case of reading and listening, there is literally no chance until and unless there is some human error which is highly unlikely.

wastage of money for revaluation of reading module. The exam is checked two times by different invigilators.

I did EOR but failed the 6.5 to 7 for writing

My listening is 9, reading is 9 speaking is 8

Chances are low and waste of money
Last year i went for EOR of my speaking and writing modules. Writing increased from 6.5 to 8.0 and speaking increased from 6.5 to 7.5

So it all depends on how your test goes + Luck ;)
