Hand Written old style Passport-Can be problem?

I have a hand written Pakistani passport issued in Sweden, valid until 2019. It is not a Machine readable passport. I have applied with it for FSW but will they ask for a machine readable passport before they stamp visa?Can I have any problem at entry?

If it is a genuine passport , do not think it would be a issue.

Lol. Of Course it is a genuine passport. Why do you doubt? In some forums, it is being told that USA and Canada only accept machine readable passports at their airports and persons with other passports face long delays and often refused entry because it is difficult to verify a hand written passport.

CIC does not inform any such thing on their website.

I do not doubt it , my father also had hand made passport till recently.

I meant that if that passport is valid , why would they have issues? Further if they have , they will inform you. Your chances of PR will not be hurt because of this.

It wont be an issue if your home country government still issues hand written pp. But, if the government declared that from such date everyone should get the readable pp, after such date hand written pp will be invalid, then you ll be in trouble. It happened with my country government. Though my handwritten pp had a validity till 2020, but after 2016 oct it became invalid as we have to have machine readable.

My friend its better to move to electronic passport as currently many embassies if not all always ask for machine readable passport. I faced this problem for Schengen Visa !

Check nearest embassy where MRP facility is available and get a new passport from there (you can now get 10-yr validity passports).
Old manual/hand-written passports were supposed to be phased out by ICAO but it was extended to give some countries more time to fully migrate to new/computerized passports.
It's a hassle but I strongly suggest you obtain a new MRP from nearest pakistani mission closest to you.
You can always google the contact info of those missions and inquire by phone before going to save u time/hassle/money
