Should the .pdf forms be printed, signed, and then scanned?

I've never done that. Most people in this forum have never done that. If you want to follow Jalex advice, by all means go ahead, since you never know.

It's probably cleaner not to do it and maybe easier for them to enter data as well which they will probably prefer. However, it seems that Jalex made the call but as he said apparently they let is pass by if it's not signed. Maybe someone else who has filed with or without signing can weigh in?

Thanks for the clarification.

So, to finish this thread, other than application IMM5257, all other forms including representative, relatives, etc...forms must be downloaded, signed by hand and then uploaded.

NO, you dont need to download them, nor signed them nor scanned and send them. The only thing you must do is open the file of course its by pdf. then fill up the necessary boxes. validate it. write the name of the (applicant). NO NEED TO SIGN IT since it is an online application. the written name of the applicant is enough in the SIGNATURE FIELD. Validate it.. save it in your computer then upload it to where it at the corresponding field in your application at www.cic.gc.ca/mycic.

When you are done uploading all those needed documents... you can click continue then PAY by credit card.. Upon payment and confirming your (Confirmation of Online Application Transmission) then you are gonna asked to check the CHECK BOX on there to AGREE for DIGITAL SIGNATURE. That's what it is.

NOTE: If you are gonna download, print and signed them... you better do that for PAPER APPLICATION... that's what the move is for.

Thanks for the input. When you say don't download them what do you really mean? I checked MyCIC and when I click on the file on Chrome for example it opens another tab but you can't save it there. You have to save the copy and open using Adobe Reader to fill it out and then upload it to MyCIC acount. Am I doing something wrong here?

Also, I can not not type name in the signature area. It's not an input field. For example, family information form# IMM5645E I can input all data including DATE at the end but signature field will remain empty unless I do a signature paste using Adobe which they might frown upon?

You welcome. I think, you're doing it right as long as you save the file in your computer after filling out the boxes. What I did was I clicked on the form.. then it opened up for me... then I filled up the necessary boxes... then after that I saved it in my computer.

I just leave the family information form IMM5645 name as blank because you're right it doesn;t give us the option to type the name there. Just input the date.

But for the other forms like the IMM5757... you need to input the applicants name. After that, you're ready to go. Don't worry about the signature as like what I said... it is not necessary in online applications as you will just confirm the DIGITAL SIGNATURE at the end after uploading all the requested docs.

Hi torrontob,

I finally found the link to answer your query. I know I encountered this lately when I was helping on my mom's application. But I got a hard time to find it again lol. Now, this would really of great help :)

Thanks bebeboy2013, I believe this is not on the application form itself but rather presented on the web once all forms are submitted. Is this what you meant? All the forms do have a signature panel in the .pdf versions but according to Jalex they should all be signed except for the main Application due to real-time validation which makes sense. Please read other posts on this thread.

I think you are also not getting it correct way. I have to make some clarifications.
1) Option to validate comes only in the main application form. So no need to sign it manually.Just validate and upload.

The thing where i am confused is :

1) I have included spouse and son. There main application forms are also to be signed digitally but as there is no option for their signatures at the time of payment. Only main applicant is asked to enter name. Is it a correct scenario.

2) The other forms also requires signature but to download them no where is written on the cic website. Can we digitally sign them using adobe signatures.
